    Bit lost

I started having problems a long time ago that I thought were diabetes, and so I self-funded (£99) an Hb1AC test in September 2018 that showed me at 35. A few months later, around February 2019 the GP send me for tests, I came back a 47, and then the time after that 48. So the limits are...

    Freestyle Libre and phone ringtone

Thank you. As it was a free trial, I didn't feel like insisting on a replacement. I see the thing works well, unless you're in the bath.

    Freestyle Libre and phone ringtone

I tried the Libre 2 sensor, via a free trial. The sensor fell off in the bath in the first 24 hours, and so the whole thing was a waste of time for me. It is a shame, as the sensor works well, and the ability to check your BG at any minute of the day was fantastic. Since installing the app on my...

    foot pain that moves around

Thank you. If it's not better tomorrow, I'll phone 111. I went to bed for most of the day, and when I woke up, the toe was OK, but the pain had now moved to the ankle. This has happened to me many times before....

    foot pain that moves around

I haven't broken my toe - I've had this thing with my foot many times before which is why I have a walking stick ready. I think people with diabetes see slow recovery of any problems with the feet. In any case, I'm in the UK, which is rapidly turning into a country WITHOUT HEALTHCARE at all. I...

    foot pain that moves around

I've had gout before, but I don't think this is it - as it came on directly after tripping over the pavement. I think ibuprofen may help bring the swelling down....

    foot pain that moves around

I've had this problem on and off, and after trying Deep Freeze and things like that, I've realised it is nothing to do with ordinary sprains. I think that if you're diabetic and bang your foot, the swelling can move around the foot until it eventually heals. I have a walking stick just in case I...

    Issues with Freestyle Libre

I ordered the free trial of a Libre 2 sensor - worth a try. It was quite exciting to use at first, but after one day of use it fell off in the bath. There is no way I would pay £50 every two weeks for this...

Diagnosed, but not really. So confused.

Yes, you're right, the original poster should get a blood glucose monitor and work out the suitable foods.

Diagnosed, but not really. So confused.

But diet advice for diabetics does not focus on forcefeeding yourself vegetables. Vegetables are actually carbohydrates, although not the sugary simple carbohydrates that are most harmful. But by the same token, you don't need huge quantities of veg, just enough to get key minerals. The thing...

    Is it really over?

10,000-12,000 a week die in the UK. It's a little known fact, but people do die. The lockdowns did nothing to change that - in Sweden there was no lockdown, and they have a lower case rate and a lower death rate from the virus.

    Is it really over?

Quite simply it would need to be an actual pandemic. In a pandemic tens of millions die. The figure for deaths in the UK is 137,000, not 200,000. The Hong Kong flu of 1969-70 killed 80,000 in the UK, without destroying the whole economy. Jaylee asked for a source, so here it is...

    Is it really over?

No, I haven't had Covid and I have had two doses of the vaccine, and have also had the flu vaccine. But that doesn't change the fact that this was not like the Black Death, with people keeling over in the street. This was not a genuine pandemic. The real pandemic is one of hysteria in the...

    Is it really over?

Thousands of people die of the flu every year. Whatever Covid was, it was not virulent enough, didn't have a high enough death rate, to be classed as a pandemic. The whole thing has been an absurd over-reaction by the political class, one that has saddled us with huge debts. Add on to that the...

    Protein powder supplement

The unflavoured whey protein has a lot less carbs than the flavoured ones - see https://www.bulk.com/uk/pure-whey-protein.html I'm unsure to what extent carbs are actually required to do a proper workout (because carbs give you the energy), and to what extent carbs in such powders would in any...

    Potato carb amount

Sorry, I should have checked that point before posting. Yes, I know nothing about whewther T1s should be eating potatoes or not.

    Potato carb amount

Your calculations are correct. Whether this is too much for you, depends on your body and so your BG monitor can help. I like potatoes, but they're the last thing I would consider eating.

    Having trouble getting blood!

Yes, that's the one. If I ever need a replacement, I'll check out the Accu-Chek. I've got two lancing devices at the moment, as I think a spare is always good.

    Hb1AC Level disappointed!

Yes, Jok11, circuit training is one of the best things you can do. Well done!
