Prof Taylor on the subject of Reversal.

I suspect some of us here arn't all that healthy , rumors abound that some of us have diabetes . There seems to be a lot of resistance on here that weight/ obesity plays a part in diabetes , I don't know for sure either way , but that resistance is marked.

Hi Madam, I was presribed novo mix 30 on level 8 twice a day , would that count as 16 units a day?

Yes of course , they didn't have a lot to go on , just my bgl at the time . I never took the insulin prescribed , I know it sounds like madness now , I wasn't really capable of doing anything for a couple of days after diagnosis , it came as a real shock , after about a week and my 5th reading...

Hi Jayleee , Novomix 30 , level 8 on the pen twice a day, ( is that a lot?) , I don't blame them for prescribing insulin, I'm sure my bgl was very high , but it does seem like overkill now , and in fact consultant on acidosis occasion intimated as much . ( my keto has dropped to 1.3 now at 7.15...

My diet before starvation ketoacidosis was virtually nothing for a week , though I do believe I had started to eat a little in the day or so before hospital admission , so maybe that was key , (though low carb ).

The insulin was the first admission 3.5 months ago , they didn't give me insulin 2nd time ( 4 weeks ago starvation ketoacidosis) just a drip of saline plus potassium or something and then metformin at home . The 22 mmol on 2nd visit was unusually high I believe , the ketoacidosis seemed to...

My blood sugar levels would have been extremely high on first admission as I thought I had covid and started drinking loads of orange juice , though perhaps pre diabetic I think it was an "artificial peak in blood sugar , later , 2nd admission, the starvation ketoacidosis came about by not...

Yes that all makes sense , I think my starvation ketoacidosis may well have developed with perhaps medium glucose levels ? Because I think less insulin is made if you starve too much , but I'm not sure , I suppose the real question is what were my blood glucose levels at the time , I was given...

Sorry I havn't been very clear, I've been in hospital twice , first time 3.5 months ago , given insulin , didn't continue when home , lost weight by design , ended up back in hospital 4 weeks ago with "starvation ketoacidosis" given metformin, which seems to work wonders on my blood glucose levels.

I walked into accident and emergency , about 4 weeks ago ,( I felt extremely unwell), they kept me in overnight and on discharge that's what they wrote after I told them I had eaten very little for a week, they did test my blood and decided it was at least to some extent acidic, which they...

Thanks for reply , I think your right , I think I just panicked when I saw 2.8 , especially after starvation ketoacidosis ( not as much fun as it sounds), but people without type 2 must sometimes go into ketosis and have high levels , I'm not completely sure what's going on with me , thought I...

I was given a blood meter after acidosis , it was 2.8 at 1 pm , blood glucose was 4.8 mmol, (probably not enough carbs ) , I've drunk some water and pretty sure is dropping , but yeh 2.8 is pretty high, i feel fine, and am pretty sure keytone levels were ok yesterday . Thanks

I have a high keytone level but low glucose level ( metformin) , ( I've had starvation ketoacidosis in the past ) , is this dangerous?
