Basal insulin still high after IVF miscarriage?

Hi. Before IVF my basal was 18. During IVF and 7-week pregnancy it went up to 32. I’m now more than 3 weeks post-miscarriage and insulin needs still at 32. They said hormones could be up for 3 weeks after the miscarriage. Has anyone else experienced this, that their insulin resistance didn’t go...

How to test babies for early diabetes?

Thank you. Do you know what age you can use the generic adult sticks on kids? As I know the bs parameters when they’re born is very different. My sister is diabetic, my aunt was and they thought my niece was becoming so I think if my son showed signs they’d actually test for a different type of...

How to test babies for early diabetes?

Hello, I remember reading somewhere (maybe in pregnancy books) that other parents would occasionally test their babies urine for high blood sugars. I’d like to do this occasionally (lots of diabetes in the family) but can’t for the life of me find simple testing sticks to do this…. Only adult...

Type 1 How to check babies for T1?

My niece’s blood sugars started to go out of range and she saw specialists who put her on vitamins and probiotics and they went back in range - it’s def worth trying if anyone gets a young T1 in early stages

Type 1 How to check babies for T1?

Also….. it’s key for me personally to find out early if any offspring have diabetes as with an aunt, sister and offspring they would then do a genetic test to see if is one of the rare types that actually can be treated as I understand

Type 1 How to check babies for T1?

Lots would disagree! Prebiotics etc for kiddies can arguably delay/prevent, lots of positive trials going on :-) Some also try to avoid formula/gluten early in life - lots of debate on these….

Type 1 How to check babies for T1?

Yes emailed diabetes team but no reply. Nobody medical seems to care when you’re trying to do everything to prevent your offspring getting T1 - like it’s OTT to be desperate for them to not have their life ruled by it 24/7!!

Type 1 How to check babies for T1?

Can anyone recommend urine test strips suitable for testing babies occasionally? I’ve read a few times that diabetic parents check their baby’s urine a few times a year which we’d like to do as several T1s in the family but when you Google test strips it just comes up with strips to test a...

I’ve just read Think Like a Pancreas and I am wondering if one of the flatter 24 hour basals might suit me better

Lows whilst running/walking no matter what I do! HELP!

No my basal is spot on at the moment I think. I have to change it by 0.5 every few days but pretty sure it’s good. My basal is odd because I have to split it and give 18 daytime and 4.5 nighttime as it just doesn’t last 24 hours for me and more at either time just sends me low!

Lows whilst running/walking no matter what I do! HELP!

So helpful everyone thank you. I’m on Novorapid at meals (although prob 5/6 times a day really for small correction doses to manage the pre-pregnancy planning tightly) and Levermir 18 in the morning and 3.5 at night (which also always makes me low at night but 3 isn’t enough!!) I don’t think...

Lows whilst running/walking no matter what I do! HELP!

Hello, I’m having a recurring problem where sugars are good before a run or long walk, I eat a snack maybe a banana or similar, then 15 minutes into run/walk I’m dropping low then I spend the run/walk chomping on jelly babies but I’m low the whole time! Then of course when I stop boom they rise...

    COVID 19 and anxiety

Hello. So sorry to hear you’re feeling anxious. So understandable and so many of us are. I’m TTC as well so have felt very anxious at times. Recently I’ve tried to do more though, with baby steps (for example pop to the garden centre with mask and hand sanitizer and a few days later something...
