    Struggling

Take one moment at a time, don't try and think too far ahead or overthink, it's overwhelming when you do that. Just a few steps at a time. Not thinking too far ahead, and trying to 'live in the moment' has helped me when going through some pretty fraught times. There is a 'Reddit' for people...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Late breakfast was 2 slices of back bacon, a fried egg, and slice of sourdough bread well buttered. Dinner was a steak and onion pie using the 'low carb all-purpose flour' recipe that has chicken flour, to make the pastry. As the pastry wasn't a success last time I made it, I thought I'd try...

    Scared of falling

Sorry you're having issues. Obviously I don't know your specific circumstances so I'm only guessing, but wherever you are, there has to be a 'duty of care'. Your safety should be a priority. Wondering if you are able to have a quiet word with whoever it is that is saying a bath mat isn't allowed.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Think I'll draw a line under yesterday, food wise of course. I did have a non-too-small slice of 80th birthday cake (how could I not?), sister-in-law had made an amazing footie themed one (John's football crackers). Eating wise I was all over the place. I did take a BG finger prick reading when...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Not really had a meal today. It's been a day of grazing, though I'm hoping I've not overdone the carbs. At least BG appears stable. Had to take John for a blood test at the local hospital this morning, when checking in with the receptionist she kindly advised that we were an hour too...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

I'm in the game of yo-yoing, though this week I've dropped down 0.7kg, that's 1.5lb which suits me fine. Well done 'the losers'! If you didn't manage a loss, very well done for persevering

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Breakfast ended up being at 11am this morning, 2 rashers of back bacon, a fried egg and a small slice (35g) of my adapted sourdough - it turned out not too bad, but quite heavy in texture. 50g turns out to be about 11g carbs. Dinner tonight was a nod towards the haggis 'Great chieftain o' the...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Positive thoughts to all undergoing medical visits this week. x Made some sourdough bread today, using my normal recipe of 460g of flour (Einkorn and Rye), but this time I've added 80g vital wheat gluten, 25g oat fibre, 75g sunflower flour, 25g milled flaxseed, 80g bamboo flour to bulk up the...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Had a tour of the Chorleywood facility many moons ago, over 4 decades in fact, I can remember it being one huge laboratory. No doubt the 'favoured' wheat species has changed form several times since then. As if the Frankenstein modifications modern wheat has gone through is not enough, the wheat...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Absolutely, I believe that too. Can't remember where I read it now, think it was about bread, there are a huge amount of ingredients in a shop bought loaf, whereas hm bread has around 4 or 5. Breakfast: ACV in water, 2 rashers of bacon, 1 fried egg, butter fried slice of sourdough bread...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Been doing quite a bit of research re the book I'm reading 'Glucose Revolution' by Jessie Inchauspe. A fascinating story where she found herself in Silicon Valley testing continuous glucose monitors. As her background is in mathematics and science, through monitoring her insulin responses, and...

He's always been against sugar being a paediatrician (I think), his words were "Jessie Inchauspe takes the new science of nutrition and makes it practical for everyone". It's strange how protective I've got about what I believe, but I'm willing to learn, at least I'll c*ck an ear ;). The author...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

"Only managed to lose a pound" I wouldn't say 'only' I'd be delighted, well done! Been having a little delve into Google about weight loss and cold weather. The 'oracle' tells me that cold weather is good for weight loss as it helps build brown fat, we should be able to shiver ourselves thin...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening everyone. Had breakfast of 2 thin Einkorn sourdough slices (60g) sandwhiched between 2 back bacon rashers. BG didn't go as high today (8.2), it was soon back down again. Dinner was chicken and vegetable pie. The 'shortcrust' pastry was ZERO carbs! The pastry used chicken flour. It...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Was scheduled to bake John's sourdough loaf this morning after it had been in the fridge overnight. I've been reading a lot about Einkorn wheat flour, how it's packed with nutrients and is said to be lower on Glycaemic Index (not that it's a guarantee it won't spike BS so much). A few days ago...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

First bite to eat was at lunchtime with a small slice of left over sourdough bread heavily buttered, it was no more than a couple of mouthfuls. Not really hungry, but did enjoy a salmon steak (albeit over cooked :banghead:) with prawns added to hm ricotta cheese made into a sauce with added...
