    Different readings from different fingers?

    Thanks. That’s good to know.

    Anyone have any ideas?

A friend of mine has POTS and what she describes is very similar to what you have described. It seems it can also be accompanied by low blood sugar. I wonder if that’s something worth investigating?

Will I ever eat normally again?

Can you plan and prepare food in advance? Maybe have a meal plan and know you can look forward to what you’re going to be eating. Get the pleasure from that rather than missing the mindless “picking up the cereal box” in the morning. A bit of meditation might help as well. It will reduce the...

    Different readings from different fingers?

I’m new to this so I apologise if this is a really silly question. I’ve just taken a reading from my left index finger which came up at 5.6 which I felt was a little low. So I repeated it with my left middle finger and it was 6.2. I then used my left ring finger and it was 5.7! I have a...

Type 1 Just wanted to say thank you!

Couldn’t agree more. I’m new here too and new to the whole world of T2 and diabetes and everyone has been so friendly and helpful. This has been a great resource for me this week.

New & New to LCHF - Keto Flu?

That’s interesting. I hadn’t heard of the link between LDL and immune response before. I have two autoimmune illnesses (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and pernicious anaemia) so I’ll read up a bit more on this link. I treat both the hashi’s and the PA outside of my GP and the NHS so I’m the kind of...

New & New to LCHF - Keto Flu?

Thanks both. This forum continues to amaze me with people’s helpfulness and depth of knowledge. I didn’t ask for a breakdown of HDL, LDL and triglycerides which I’m kicking myself for. I was just wanting the key numbers. But I might phone the surgery and get a print out next week. I’m really...

Thanks Resurgam. I’m not on any medication at the moment but that’s good to know for the future.

New & New to LCHF - Keto Flu?

Thanks ianf0ster. That all makes a lot of sense. Especially about the gut microbes changing. I slept for over 12 hours last night. I think it’s just been the stress of this week. So I’ll see how the next few days go.

New & New to LCHF - Keto Flu?

Thank you all for your replies. I’m literally just off the phone to the doctor. My HbA1c has come back at 36 which is good news. My cholesterol is high, though, as is my blood pressure. My FBG before starting LCHF was 6.5, 7.6 and 7.0. The last two days (since starting LCHF) were 6.3 and 6.7...

New & New to LCHF - Keto Flu?

Thanks for your reply. I also think it’s a bit early for “keto flu” so I’m thinking it’s more likely to be down to the stress of this week. I’ve found it incredibly stressful facing this diagnosis and maybe it’s all just caught up with me. Early dinner and early bed for me tonight I think!!!

    Restless legs

I also suffer from this - although mine is related to pernicious anaemia and B12 deficiency. Assuming your B12 and thyroid levels are ok, you might find an Epsom salt bath and magnesium spray help. I got a Mg spray from Holland and Barrett which works wonders. It’s called “Goodnight” I think.

    New to forum, quick question

I’m another ex smoker. I gave up about 18 years ago. I used to LOVE smoking. Really love it. But the Allen Carr book worked for me (and loads of other people I know too). It’s only a few £££ off Amazon so might be worth a try? (Probably cheaper than a packet of fags now!!)

New & New to LCHF - Keto Flu?

Hi. I’m brand new to the forum. I had GD when pregnant with my son (now 11) and had an inkling something’s been amiss with my BG recently. I bought a monitor and have been taking random and fasting readings but saw my GP yesterday for proper blood and urine checks (there was protein in my...

    Celebrating My Lifestyle Change

I just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I’m brand new to the forums - literally saw my GP yesterday - and have decided to go down a low carb / high fat route (I was gluten free anyway so it’s not a major change for me). I also have similar experiences and issues with WW and yo-yo dieting so...
