A history of bad eating habits and misdiagnosis - part3

Hi Olivv, I agree with SheilaN that a B12 deficiency could also be causing your foot issues as well as the limited energy. Look into it. Have you had your level of B12 checked in any of your tests? If the level is low or relatively low, you could try to get some injections from your doctor or...

Issues with pancreas, but coming on slowly

Thanks, I'm hoping that after the blood results come back I will be referred to a specialist and can then ask for the ultrasound. But it's good to hear that I'm not crazy and that this kind of slow onset happens to other people as well.

Issues with pancreas, but coming on slowly

From what I understand reading forums and medical information about pancreas trouble, most people with pancreatic issues are found at the hospital at one point with excruciating pain, have an operation to remove an almost dead pancreas (and/or other adjacent stuff in the belly) and suddenly find...

    bread/oats/muesli question

Wow, thanks so much everyone. The amount of knowledge on this forum is just incredible. When I go shopping I will stock up on all the good stuff. Eggs, meat and cheese, full fat yoghurt, etc. If so many people benefit from eating like this, then why should I not give it a try? All the things I...

That's a good tip. I will look for it in the supermarket. Thanks

    bread/oats/muesli question

Yeah maybe that's it. It's a variety with low fat and low sugar, but with a raspberry flavor, or chocolate flavor. I do worry however, about eating too much fat. For decades all I've ever heard is that fat is bad for people. And in my family there are some people with coronary or heart disease...

    bread/oats/muesli question

I had some greek yoghurt with raspberries and chia seeds this morning, that was awesome for my blood glucose. On the other hand, 2 hours later I was really hungry, because it didn't fill me up. I had something small to tide me over until lunch. I'l probably keep doing this for a while, just to...

    bread/oats/muesli question

Thank god! I thought I was going crazy, something really badly wrong with me and my digestive system. It's good to know that they got it wrong, and that I shouldn't listen to them, but just follow the BG measurements :-D I will look into your suggestions when I'm at the supermarket. Thanks for...

    bread/oats/muesli question

The Dutch are a nation of bread eaters. Our diabetes association website gives me recipes for breakfast including wholemeal bread, overnight oats and muesli with yoghurt as 'good' breakfast options. However, after having tested with my trusty bloodglucose meter, I've found that all of those send...

    tiredness

It is generally known that vitamin B12 has no toxic upper level, and you pee it out if it isn't used. The same as with vitamin C. The test with the spray is not recommended anywhere. It's just something I did myself to see if flooding my blood with B12 would reduce my symptoms of tirednes...

Is this some kind of diabetes or not?

Hi Lamont, the last few days I've managed to keep my blood sugars quite low, between 4.5 and 7. But now I'm hungry all day long! Does that fit with the hypoglycaemia pattern? And I will try and investigate and test more concerning fruit and fructose. I never knew this was possibly linked to...

    tiredness

True that. And if it hasn't been tested already, don't take the supplements until you have been tested. You will screw up any results of blood tests if you take the supplements before having the blood tests. Good luck!

    tiredness

Older people can have trouble with vitamin B12 deficiency. The B12 conversion process is quite complicated, and can easily go wrong and more so when you are older. B12 has a lot to do with energy and feeling energetic. Some symptoms (nerve damage, eye problems, etc.) also overlap with diabetes...

Is this some kind of diabetes or not?

Thanks for all the info about Reactive Hypoglycaemia. I'm not sure I fit into this category, my lows usually tend to be before breakfast (this morning again), and not so much after food. But, as I said, I've been eating quite low carb for a while now, so that could mitigate any strong responses...

Is this some kind of diabetes or not?

Thanks for the replies so far. Being unwell from eating a piece of cake should not happen. And getting such a high reading from some low sugar muesli also shouldn't happen. The early morning lows where I felt like I would faint are also off. So there is definitely something going on. I think I...

Is this some kind of diabetes or not?

I’m looking for some input. It’s going to be a long story, but I would appreciate any insight anyone has on the subject. I’ve been reacting strongly to sugary food for years now. Whenever there was a birthday at work, and cake to celebrate it, I would feel very hyper and like I have clouds in...
