    Insight handset charging

I was on the Omnipod for about 4 years. It is good in that there's no tubes but my skin started having a really bad reaction to the adhesive, and none of the creams or sprays helped. Plus i experienced quite a few pod failures

    Insight handset charging

I'm wondering if there's a problem with mine then, as the charge does seem to drop quite a bit each day. Also if I leave the handset for a couple of hours it seems to go into some sort of sleep mode where the only way of getting it going again is to put it on charge, even though the indicator...

    Insight handset charging

Really!! Mine seems to need a bit of a charge every few hours and I only got it on Thursday!! Maybe I'll monitor it and if it doesn't improve I'll speak to Roche. Thanks

    Insight handset charging

Hi All. I switched over from the Omnipod to the Insight pump on Thursday and all going well so far (I have used tubed pumps before). However I'm interested to hear how people charge the insight handset - does anyone leave it on charge all night and if so does the charge then last throughout...

    CGM'S Cost

Hi. I'd be interested to hear what the costs are too. I'm having a lot of hypo awareness issues and am considering using a CGMS but would most likely have to fund it myself. It won't work in conjunction with my pump as I use the Omnipod patch pump.

New to pumping - Question about hair.

Hi Firstly congrats on getting a pump. I'm sure you will soon start seeing the benefits of pump therapy. In answer to your question, yes you will have to shave the hair right back, otherwise the cannula won't stick properly. The first time I had a cannula fitted, I shaved the day before to...

    Hi

Re: Hi Yes I use that app for my lock screen too. There's plenty of advice saying everyone should have an ICE contact in their contacts, but it's not much use if you have a pass code on your phone! So this emergency ID app is perfect.

    How Times Change!!

That's right, orange was the highest reading, and wasn't the lowest blue (known as negative)? I had the plastic tube for the syringes too. It's all coming flooding back now!

    How Times Change!!

Wow, that really is a blast from the past. I had that test meter - didn't it take about 2 minutes to give a reading?

    Exercise/Gym

Hi. Like you say everyone is different and you'll likely receive lots of different opinions on this. What worked for me though, was to reduce my basal rates by 50% 2 hours before my workout, with the full basal rate coming back in an hour after my workout. Obviously very frequent blood tests...

Next gen (smaller) Omnipods in use...

I've been on the smaller pods since just before Christmas, and I have had only 1 pod that has failed. Sounds like I've been lucky!

    New record low???

I had my lowest earlier this week, 1.4. But in the past few weeks I've had three of four results of under 2 and the scary thing is I haven't felt that bad. Yes I've had some warning signs that I'm low, but not THAT low! I've had T1 for over 35 years and my biggest issue is that I have definitely...

How long have you been diabetic and any complications?

I was diagnosed T1 at the age of 6, over 35 years ago. On the whole my control has been pretty good, my highest HbA1c in recent years being 7.8. I've been on a pump since 2003, and the Omnipod since Sept last year. My last HbA1c was 5.8 and the only complication I have had so far is...

Has anyone moved pct with a pump?

I moved from the mid Essex PCT to the north Essex PCT just over a year ago. Unfortunately my hospital took their time doing the necessary paperwork and it ended up with Roche temporarily putting my account on stop! They were really helpful though and following a couple of phone calls I had with...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Type 1 for over 35 years, been on an insulin pump since 2003. Sept 2012 HbA1c result was 6.7. Then went onto Omnipod. HbA1c last week was 5.8. Well happy with that!

    New smaller Omnipod Patch Pump

I've been on an insulin pump since 2003, and I originally received funding for the consumables only and not the pump itself. After a couple of years arguing my case with the PCT, and with the help of my local MP, they finally agreed to fund the pump as well. However at the time of moving onto...

    New smaller Omnipod Patch Pump

I've been in the Omnipod since Sept last year, and been using the smaller pods since just before Christmas. I've had no issues at all with the smaller pod and am really pleased with the reduction in size.

Omnipod users under care of Barts Hospital

Update - the account has now been unfrozen as the invoices have been paid! Still out of order though, shouldn't even have to worry about this type of thing.
