    Blood Levels

I just discovered that I'm expecting again (!) and I've also had a good few high readings in the past two weeks which were stubborn to come back down. Had type 1 for 21 years and have 2 lovely kids already but suffered miscarriages in the past couple of years trying for number 3 so really...

Need to lose 80kg, starting tomorrow!

Absolutely brilliant, well done to you and keep it up. I've only recently worked out that more carbs=more insulin=more stored fat=more insulin resistance so I reduced my carbs too, goal was jjust to loose 'some weight' not a set amount, after 7 months I've dropped 17lbs :-)

    Blood Sugars and Menstruation

Im t1, I go high in the few days before then totally drop in the first couple of days, I also have a couple of t1 friends who are just the same, it's hard to control perfectly but you can allow for it with practice. It still happened but wasn't as bad when I was on the pill but been advised...

    Headaches after Hypos

Cutting down the insulatard sounds like its needed to me. I am told that more than two hypos a week is too many and means my insulin is too high. Losing weight increases insulin sensitivity so I find my insulin requirement drops of I've shed a few lbs. I get a horrid headache if I wake up low...

    My partner had a hypo

Most hypos are treatable fairly quickly and easily with sweet food or drink. Some however, especially during sleep can be awful. I have always been told that all type 1s should have a glycogen injection in case of a severe hypo. They are a lifesaver. I've had one, or even two kits in my house...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

7.6 done this week. New to pump so although it's quite high for me as previously 6-6.5 but I'm happy as having fewer hypos.

    How many tests a day?

Im on a pump too. I get 300 at a time on prescription. I find I do 8-10 tests per day.

    Feeling fed up!

Being on fixed doses only works if you eat exactly the same amount of carbs and do the same amount of activities every day, which I doubt many people do, so unless you are like that your BGs are gonna be all over the place which is from experience exhausting. I would recommend getting on a DAFNE...

    Diabetes challenges and pregnancy

I've had type 1 for about 21 years and have two kids age 11 and 7. First two pregnancies went great but I've lost two babies since then which is heart breaking. I believe that was down to poor control as although my HbA1c were in the 6s my control was more erratic in the past few years with many...

Anaerobic Exercise and High BG Levels

I also go high after I excercise hard, I take less insulin before I to prevent a hypo during and this keeps me stable then take a bolus as soon as I hit the changing rooms otherwise I can go from a BG of 7 to 17 in an hour. The high bit can last 4-5 hours after so I test every hour and correct...

Healthy Weight Loss & Dieting Tips

Being a type 1 Ive found getting rid of the regular hypos I'd got used to helped me loose loads of weight. Reducing insulin down instead of eating extra for the sugar needed for exercise, sounds simple but takes practice and isn't always the obvious or easy thing to do. It greatly reduces hidden...

    Who is the pump for

Re: Who is the pump for I got one in Jan I'm type1, had it 22 years HbA1c been around 6.0-6.4 for a long time which sounds great, but with lots of hypers and hypos so constantly up and down and no energy, latest HbA1c 7.8 with no hypos. I expect HbA1c to reduce again as I get used to the pump...

For the ladies - high BS before periods

It's a pain for me too, I'm on a pump. I get lots of high spikes the 7-10 days before then hypos for the first couple of days but unpredictable so hard to deal with apparent from just correcting as I go and short TBR increases and decreases. You are not alone!

    Where did I go wrong . . .?

Have you had your thyroid tested? It affects weight energy and mood if out of balance, and thyroid problems are more common in diabetics.
