    Type 2 with high levels

Yes read about dawn phenomenon sometime back. It usually kicks in depending on if i work out in the evening, dinner carb quantity etc. It was higher earlier and came down to 110. Plateauing there for a month. Does it have anything to do with body weight? I reduced cardio and weight has...

    Type 2 with high levels

Update: lost over 12 kg since diagnosis. Seeing good improvement in post prandial levels even with moderate carbs. Fasting levels settled down at 110s. Trying to bring to lower 90s. After 2 months of hardship and strict regimens, feeling like I'm back to living. My body allows little leeway...

Blood sugar monitor woes - Just cried (T2)

I use a stress ball for 15 secs before taking test. Make sure hand is clean and dry. Use a clicker pen - it is easier and less hurtful than lancet. If finger tips are too painful, try lower palm. Skin is tougher and less susceptible to soreness. Switch hands everyday.

    Confused with my macros

Update: my bg (both fasting and pp) seems much predictable and stabilized now. Pp levels come back to baseline (around 110mg/dl) in 2 hours. Tried few starch/sugar rich foods like potato, jaggery etc. Same findings. I'm now starting my attempts to lower my baseline to 90mg/dl Thanks for all...

    Dawn Phenomenon, Evening Eating

Ghee is not unhealthy. In fact, ghee is nothing but butter with all the fat removed. If you ate from take away orders, it most prohably isn't ghee but hydrogenated vegetable oil (vanaspati) which is highly processed and is known to spike blood sugar levels. I make ghee at my home and use it in...

    Potatoes.....confused!

Same boat as you. Was in 450s post prandial in July. I'm now down to 130s if I really went crazy on carbs like potatoes etc. Weight loss and low carb diet might have made by body to allow occassional carb treats. I want to cherish this state as long as I can without meds and trying not to poke...

Reducing meds along with blood sugars

Yes, Once you have used up all the glycogen, body starts burning its fat stores from muscles and liver. Pundits call it ketosis (the good one, not the ketoacidosis we get when our BS shoots up >160mg/dl). It gets triggered for me when I do longer fasting - i.e longer than 36 hours. You can...

    diet bars -sugar content

All these soup satchets, shakes and bars sound too processed to me. Switch to real home made food. There is no magic pill or miracle diet for weight loss or diabetes management. Cut the root cause (processed carbs, high sugar) and our body can recover itself with lifestyle changes (less stress...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Had 2 servings of a snack that had potato, yogurt and sweet syrup made with dates. 1 hour reading was 159. After 2 hour reading, sugar levels came to 123. Glad that my pancreas could manage this high carb food. I won't be putting my system into test like this often.

Reducing meds along with blood sugars

Probably liver is using up its glycogen stores. Which is good. Continue keeping your carbs low. While you're at it, Try fasting for longer duration if you can. You will see an increase in sugar rise initially, it will plateau (it did in 2nd or 3rd longer fasting session and then slowly started...

Improved fbg but no so ppbs

Hi, I posted few weeks ago on my diagnosis of type 2 (11.9% a1c) in July and my attempts to bring it down without meds or insulin. My last reading taken in aug was 8.9%. Expecting improvements in my next review as I lost 8.5 kg since then and my fasting levels have also improved (from 150s to...
