Are Carbohydrates essential? A Blogger's view

My 7 year plant based vegan diet back in the 90's messed me up big time. I ended up with muscle wasting, malabsorption and glycation problems. The high carb, high fibre and seed oils didn't help, it wrecked my digestive system.

Are Carbohydrates essential? A Blogger's view

The proteins and fats are already incorporated in the carbs. (grains fruits, nuts, seeds, and vegetables.) That's why we can survive......because it contains the essentials,(proteins and fats) we need. I find it much cheaper eating 2 meals a day by just eating meat and fat than eating "carby and...

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

I've always taken the trial and error approach. I trust no one and then I know what works, or doesn't work for me.

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

Quoting Jaylee: "maltodextrin. Which looks pretty pricey online." Does it really? There's lots of bargains out there if you shop around. lol. Excess protein does raise my blood sugars, there's no ifs or buts about it. It's a fact. It has done since day one of me following the Paleiolithic...

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

Just think of all those insulin resistant pre-diabetics that are on no medication and are already consuming high amounts of carbs and then topping themselves up with high glycemic hidden maltodextrin laced foods and drinks that are contained in their ingredients...... and who's to say what the...

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

It's hard to judge the dosage when the maltodextrin ingredient is hidden in the product. I have to carefully watch my protein levels, any excess protein raises my blood sugars, Maltodextriin elevates it even more. Yes there's plenty of folk out there using maltodextrin for hypos and if they do...

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

I have told the website owner about it. It's in one of my earlier posts on this thread. This isn't the first time. It's happened with several other brands. I've also been in contact with the manufacturers of the product. Just waiting for their reply.

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

Reading the back of the pack or bottle doesn't do much good, or help anyone if the hidden ingredient maltodextrin isn't mentioned or shown before purchasing the product does it?

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

Lowering my HCL could have something to do with it. My blood sugars rose before I noticed the added Maltodextrin ingredient on the bottle, I cut my Betaine Hydrochloride + Pepsin dosage down from 8 to 2 capsules per day, I'm now having digestive problems " I'm not being able to digest my...

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

The point of this thread and topic is that it's trickier to spot maltodextrin when it's not even mentioned in a lot of products. Adding up carbs, seeing how much there is in food and drinks can be deceiving when high glycemic ingredient like maltodextrin is hidden in the ingredients.

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

What's controversial about it? Diabetics ingesting excess carbohydrates including the high glycemic index effect of maltodextrin "CAN" be fatal. There's nothing controversial about it, it's a well known fact Sugar goes by a slew of different names, making it easy for manufacturers to hide how...

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

I was recommended some dodgy guidance under my GP and my diabetic team, they are dead against me being on a high fat, zero carb carnivore diet. They want me to carry on following their standard "eat and drink anything you want" advice and to keep on taking insulin to cover my sugar intake. I...

    Beware of misleading ingredients.

I've just received this email from my HCL provider, which I already knew, so that wasn't very helpful, so I've contacted the manufacturers to see what they have to say about it. "This item contains Maltodextrin. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance. Kind...
