    Carb Free Snacks

Skips, Wotsits & Quavers are around 10g carbs per pack. Or you could have a look on the Internet for low carbs snack ideas - there's lots of stuff around the Atkins type diets. Mini milk ice cream lollies are 5g carbs, mini twisters 9g, ice pops around 3g... x Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Alfrezza inhaler

Have just been reading a little about the insulin inhaler that has just been through clinical trials. Just wondered if anyone knew any more about it? And what everyone's thoughts on trying it out if it ever came to it... Not sure I'd be brave enough (though it's my daughter who is T1, not me)...

    What do we need most?

Valaraki, I hear you loud & clear on the variety front! I seem to dish up more processed, packaged stuff than ever before as it's ready carb-counted so to speak. I didn't ever think of be grateful for having a fussy eater who doesn't like potatoes ;) Have just said in another post that I've...

    new to carb counting help

Hello Emma, My daughter is also 6, been diagnosed for a year and a half. We've carb counted since the start and, over the time, I've compiled a long old list of lots of the things my daughter eats (treats, snacks and mains). I saved it all on my phone using a recipe (index) card style app so...

11 year old daughter just been diagnosed with type 1

That's great; well done to Ellysse. It certainly makes us realise just how amazing our children really are. I think having a good nursing team makes all the difference - if they're anything like ours, they'll be there for you whenever you need. Well done to both of you. x Sent from the...

11 year old daughter just been diagnosed with type 1

Hi Lorni Just to echo what everyone else says, really. It's such a bloody shock when your most precious thing is diagnosed and the endless questions & scenarios that run through your head are all consuming. I know exactly how you feel, but this site is great for a bit of empathy & sympathy...

The article I read seemed only to be referring to use on feet/ankles. I'm assuming because of any circulation issues? I'm a bit paranoid about looking after her feet... she's so young and those lil peds have got to last her a long while yet! Perhaps I'm being a bit ott? x Sent from the...

Bless you, thank you so much for asking. We survived sports day.... Because she fell over and now has a very swollen, hot sprained (I think) ankle. And apparently isn't supposed to use elasticated bandaging because of the diabetes! Anyone know anything about this? Poor thing, she's right in the...

Thanks everyone for your insights - it's really helpful to hear it, especially as it's quite clear that it differs from person to person & situation to situation. I have definitely been in the 'one too many' camp and looking at people thinking "why are they not getting what I'm saying!?" I'll...

Thanks everyone - especially for the suggestion of changing the hypo stoppers. I know I've grown to loathe jelly babies and I don't even have to scoff them every now & again! x Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

The hardest thing is other people's reactions :( And knowing that she'll likely be judged for something which is no-one's 'fault' - let alone hers. And knowing that I would probably have been the same pre her being diagnosed :( Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
