Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

I'm feeling rather smug at the moment. In November my HbA1c was 11.4, in July, 14.7. Last week, due to weight loss and a change of meds, I've got 6.2. The DSN tells me that that's out of the diabetic range, which starts at 6.4/6.5. I'm aalso beginning to get feeling back in my toes - in effect...

    Storing Victoza

Hi I inject Victoza (Liraglutide) daily. I just store mine in the fridge. It probably wouldn't harm to keep it in a cool bathroom but why take the risk? :)

    Sharps Boxes

Well end of this saga for me! I went to pick up my sharps box 'script from the GP only to be told they don't issue 'scripts for them! However, they had found a couple of small ones for me (the same as the ones posted on page 2). It's all very confusing and seems to depend on where you live...

    Sharps Boxes

And it rumbles on! I managed to get a 'script for a sharps box from my GP. I thought I'd be sensible and check with my pharmacy that they kept these things or had to order them in. A rude woman on the phone at Day-Lewis told me that they didn't issue them and that I'd have to go to my surgery. I...

    Sharps Boxes

I've now asked for one on 'script but it's amazing how much misinformation there is out there!

    Sharps Boxes

I thought I'd re-invigorate this topic as I'm of the opinion that the subject of issue/disposal of clinical waste for diabetics in the UK is a national disgrace! Here's an extract of from an email from the waste management department of my local authority after I asked them to collect my sharps...

    Liraglutide/Victoza

I'm not a doctor (although I do work for the NHS), but I thought Metformin and Gliclazide were the meds of choice these days? Of course, in diabetes a lot has to do with controlling food intake. I used to over-eat for comfort, I admit, but since the Liraglutide (and also Sertraline to control...

Looking to lose 20 lbs in 10 weeks

Mike, good luck with your goal but I'd suggest that daily weigh-ins are a bit extreme. I weigh every Sunday morning first thing without fail. It helps my motivation to see a larger weekly loss - currently 3-4lbs - than watch it creep down very slowly. Plus, if I fall off the wagon for a day, I...

    Liraglutide/Victoza

That's one thing I've found with being diabetic - all the conflicting information. My DSN told me this morning "Don't drive below five" and handed me a brochure. The info inside said don't drive below 4!

    Liraglutide/Victoza

Hi Kelvin That's not good.It seems it's all a bit of a juggling act! I know I got kicked off my cardiac rehab programme because my bloods were too high, and that was just gentle exercise! Good luck with everything! Paul

    Liraglutide/Victoza

Well update on my earlier. I got told off by my DSN this morning because my sugars are now too low! Anyone else been told "Don't drive below five"? As a result, they've now cut down on my Gliclazide, as expected. :D I'm also getting some feeling back in my toes! I think for me the secret is...

    Liraglutide/Victoza

Hi Anna Thanks, that's useful to know. I was on 0.6mg for a week and now on 1.2. My sugars this morning were 5.2 and that's only because had a cheeky bit of 81% dark chocolate before bed last night! Seeing my DSN this morning and the chances are they'll now start reducing my Gliclazide as my...

    Liraglutide/Victoza

Just wondering if anyone else on these boards has been prescribed with Liraglutide (Victoza)? My blood sugars were horribly out of control (18+) for years, despite taking Metformin and Gliclazide. In October 2012 I had to stay in hospital when I suffered a mild heart attack. The diabetes team...
