New phone - NFC won't scan L2 sensor

I don't use a phone to scan. I had problems with apps in the past and when I tried to rectify they just played the blame game where Freestyle would blame the phone and the phone manufacturers would blame Freestyle. I have continued to use the Libre meter - so there is only Freestyle to blame if...

    Leg Pain in Knee?

Interesting that 8.2 was decribed in the original thread as being "fairly well controlled" - I would have said exactly the same thing 10 years ago. However in the last several years (particularly since the sensors became widely used) I am sure the diabeteic nurse (and/or doctor) would be...

    NHS artificial pancreas roll out.

I think I would refuse if offered. The idea of having some kind of "machine" stuck to me just doesn't appeal . . I find the libre 2 sensors annoying enough. How big are these "artificial pancreas" things anyway? I have visions, and the visons do not look good.

How flat is the park? :p

Freestyle Libre 2 New sensor failures.

So I changed my Frestyle Libre 2 sensor and scanned the new one to start it yet I got the message "Your Sensor is not working. Please remove your Sensor and start a new one". I left it on for about an hour and still got the same error message. Thinking this must just be a dud sensor I took it...

    Blood in urine.

Indeed and my dealings with 111 were hardly positive. In fact a waste of time. I had to wait out the bank holiday weekend and go down the GP route.

    Blood in urine.

Nope. No meds that could possibly do the same either. If it relates to the kidneys (quite possible) blood in urine (gross hematuria) seems to be classified as an "emergency" upon searching the web. o_O

    Blood in urine.

Last night I had 'coffee coloured urine' (think black coffee, coca cola type stuff). I have managed to get this looking 'normal' again today (straw colour) but only after drinking a ridiculous amount of fluids (think 5 litres by 5pm). My question is. Has anyone else had this and at what stage...

Didn't you know "we're just 5 years from a cure"?

    Statins on NHS?

Hi. So here is the roll call for those on the NHS in the UK and whether you have been offered statins or not. Bear in mind I only just got my call this late afternoon (Weds 6th March). But apparently "all diabetics are being offered statins" "because it's good for them" . . . or something...

    Kidney Issues (stones, calcium).

Hmmm. The spinach could have played a part . . . 200g a week. That's basically the whole pack . . fresh stuff goes off after 6-7 days so gotta eat the whole packet. I gave up milk years ago and when I tried drinking some a while back it tasted gross (sour, like it was off). Weird!!! I guess the...

    Carbs that sugar>

Well this is the thing. I have seen some 'diabetic experts' - often with type 1 themselves saying to take away the fibre value from the carb value of any given food. But if a carb is a carb then . . . . Though I don't understand the US relevance. A food label is a food label right? And most...

    Carbs that sugar>

Hi. I am well aware that there are simple carbs and complex carbs. But when carb counting and doing your insulin-carb ratios how do people here treat "carbs that sugar"? *As most (if not all) will know that on some food labels there will be the carb value in grams and then something like 'of...

    Cycle touring

I have only ever had to source insulin in Europe when I was able to go to a pharmacy and buy direct without a prescription. I did know a type 1 English teacher that was able to do the same in China (but maybe you should check if anyone has any info on the travel forums). If you have the money it...

    Discrimination

I was just about to ask what job your friend does. Like trying to rationalize why she was not allowed to treat the hypo. A lot of people can 'scoff a chocolate bar' on the spot at work, right? Or at least go somewhere where they can . .

    Kidney Issues (stones, calcium).

Hi. So I have recently been referred to urology (standard appointment - 3 month wait apparently) after a scan picked up something in my kidneys (listed on the report as non obstructing calculi) which would possibly explain the 'urinary tract' discomfort I have been experiencing in recent weeks...

    First Libre 2 fault

I don't think I have ever had more than 3 freestyle libre 2 sensors in a row that worked for the full 14 days without issue. My last one worked okay for 12 days then just randomly stopped (and the filament was not damaged in any way). Failed sensors seem to be that common that the customer...

Low carb (keto) but high cholesterol.

I always try and stay off any extra meds as much as possible so will only go on statins as a very last resort. I am aware that it is often just the easy option in a lot of cases and some doctors seem to be dishing out scripts like they are on commission, lol. We'll see in a few months I guess.

Low carb (keto) but high cholesterol.

Regarding the protein I think what will be my 2nd thread here will question that :grumpy: When eating 'normally' I have to put in a ****load of insulin (as I think my sensitivity/absorption must be low). No idea about the cortisol - but if that is spiked by exercise (by cardio or weights) then...

Low carb (keto) but high cholesterol.

4.8 which is high. it's basically more than double what it was last year (last time I had bloods done) (Given range says high end is to 4 and obviously it was high enough for the doctor to flag it and even mention statins - though recommended I try and get it down and get bloods done again in 3...
