Anyone had reactions to basal insulin only?

Fast acting is lyumjev, which I have no issues with. It's also that the insulin molecule is different in long acting

Anyone had reactions to basal insulin only?

I don't know I haven't tried, Tresiba stays in your body a long time as well up to 40 hours. I have nothing at all from the fast acting.

Anyone had reactions to basal insulin only?

It's really hard to describe, but like a zombie, within a couple of minutes of injecting. Just felt drugged all the time, sleepy, heavy head, I could hardly do anything, just slumped in a chair all day.

Anyone had reactions to basal insulin only?

I only need quite small doses now (I am LADA) so don't think I am up to that yet, but yes that would be an option if the basal insulin continues to be a problem.

Anyone had reactions to basal insulin only?

Toujeo is the same type as Abasaglar, seems like there are only 2 types of basal available now, so if you can't tolerate either you're in trouble...

Anyone had reactions to basal insulin only?

At diagnosis I was given Abasaglar which made me feel terrible so I stopped it after a week, continued with fast acting only which was no problem. Over a year later, I have recently started to try Tresiba, starting with 2 units which was fine and had a good effect. By 2 weeks the effect was...

    Stage 1 retinopathy into remission?

It's weird because I had a test a year ago (my first, as I was only diagnosed 2 months before that) which was clear, then this recent one said stage 1 retinopathy. But my blood sugar has been in non diabetic range all that time, a1c of 36 and 100% in range. So I don't understand how it could get...

    Stage 1 retinopathy into remission?

Never mentioned again meaning that they said you had no retinopathy in subsequent eye tests?

    Stage 1 retinopathy into remission?

Has anyone had stage 1 retinopathy picked up on an eye exam, from damage that happened before diagnosis, that later went away after maintaining tight control of blood sugar?

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

There will always be individual variation, that is why studies must look at large populations to see trends. You see this all the time on social media - "I know someone who got cancer after the covid jab" does not show that the jab causes cancer. There are many factors that could influence...

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

The entire point of that paper and the massive amount of research and studies it pools was to show the causality which was not conclusively shown before. It's all there if you read it! Even in the summary: Aims: To appraise the clinical and genetic evidence that low-density lipoproteins (LDLs)...

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

ApoB yes, used much more in America but the NHS don't do it. The non HDL cholesterol on a standard lipid panel has been shown to correlate quite well with ApoB, better than total or LDL. The influence of particle size is controversial and not all accept that has much value. ApoB measures all...

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

I am low carb myself so certainly not against it, it's what keeps my blood sugar in range with no meds. I do have stubborn slightly raised cholesterol and don't want to take statins because almost all raise blood sugar and that's the last thing I need! By the way the non HDL cholesterol is the...

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

I guess it's more keto and carnivore rather than just low carb, my own LDL hasn't gone up either but I try to restrict saturated fat. LDL is well known to rise on a keto and especially carnivore diet. The LMHR thing is not accepted by all, see this:

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

I think you will find the improvement was because of the weight loss, not specific diet and may be temporary. It's probably more keto rather than just low carb that causes more significant rises in LDL. The large populations I meant we can't come to any conclusions about whether saturated fat...

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

There are many mitigating factors - had you lost weight? Weight loss usually causes improvement in lipids regardless, at least in the short term. Was cholesterol raised already? Were you doing more exercise? Eating more fibre? This is why we have to look at large populations to see trends to...

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

Yes there are confounding factors, but well designed trials account for those as much as possible and mention them. A big one is weight loss - that will usually result in better lipid results regardless of the diet. Yes there certainly is strong evidence that LDL causes atherosclerosis, here it...

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

Well your same ACC concluded not long before that "The attenuated associations of lipoprotein particle measures with CHD after the adjustment for lipids indicate that their measurement does not detect risk that is unaccounted for by the standard lipid panel" - particle size is largely seen as...

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

No, I am saying the leading European cardiologists say that LDL causes atherosclerosis, and nobody is denying that excess intake of saturated fat raises LDL. It doesn't have to mention saturated fat specifically, that is the reason that it has harmful effects in excess, because it raises LDL. I...

Mastering diabetes approach - I don't get it!

None of that is anti low carb in any way, I don't know where that came from. It was purely that HDL is not a good predictor of heart disease risk, and therefore any ratios or calculations using HDL are likely to be inaccurate, nothing to do with any specific diet. That is what many leading...
