Stomach cramps - low carbs link?

Hi. Well yes. But not as much because since losing lots of weight my BG had improved and my ability to process carbs had also improved. So I eating more carbs than a few months ago and the cramps have faded too. The same with my non diabetic partner mirrors my diet. So we are pretty convinced...

Stomach cramps - low carbs link?

Thanks Mo; no I am not taking any meds. My wife Chrissie is not diabetic BUT she has cut the carbs in a similar way (as we share meals) and she too has suffered these occasional stomach cramps. I'll look up the Atkins diet. Thanks again.

Stomach cramps - low carbs link?

Well; judging by the lack of response, I must assume that either the cramps are not associated with the low carbs OR none of you have experience of this. I have to say it's not regular but bow; when it occurs you know about it. Thanks John

Stomach cramps - low carbs link?

I am 4 months post Diagnosis Day (T2); I have drastically cut my carbs and have shed 15 kg of weight down to 92kg from 107 (height is 5' 11" - big build). A month ago I experienced quite severe stomach cramps and hot and cold "flushes" (I am a man  ). These cramps went aways after about an...

Cutting the carbs - how much weight loss is normal?

Since T2 diagnosis just over 3 months ago, I have reduced my carbs dramatically and my HbA1c is 5.7. My blood pressure is within normal range and I have lost 12 kg in weight… but I am still losing weight. My arms are thinner and I have had to have my watch strap shortened. Whilst it is great...

Three months since Diagnosis; what have we learnt ?

In the normal world, three months is nothing; but from “D Day” (diabetes diagnosis day!), it’s a long time. The thing I learnt within days was that the multiple diet sheets are good guides but that we are all very different. Due principally to this forum, I insisted that I needed to test my BG...

    Blood testing advice

Just spoken to my doctor re my T2; he said that I was testing "far too much" at 3-4 times per day and that it really isn't necessary. I replied that i sometimes get spikes of 12 mmol/L and that I need to test to avoid these. His reply was surprising " don't worry, you can have spikes of doubles...

Is there ANY bread that I can eat ?

Hello all; I have been T2 for just over 2 months now and have radically changed my lifestyle; I am on not on any form of medication e.g. metformin. By testing 3-4 times per day, I now know that any type of bread (say a couple of small wholemeal rolls) will shoot ny BG to 11+ (90 mins after...

    What's your favourite subway?

Yes; over the past nearly 2 months since diagnosis, I have unfortunately concluded that I have to ditch all bread. This makes any form of sandwich a challenge. Wraps are the only way :-( Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

First pint of real ale (beer) since D (diagnosis) Day)

So my BG appears well under control with 90% of readings around 6 or less. Today, we decided to stop at out local and I treated myself to a pint of my favourite real ale (lovely!). Came home, had a light lunch but still expected the beer to have had an impact; nothing. A very low reading of 5.0...

    UK GI table or sheet?

Thanks Sid; this is very sound advice and was what I believed to be the case. I am off toe USA on business soon for a full week. We have thought hard on what I may be able to eat in hotels / restaurants and decided to test steak, salad and a small portion of French fries. I was expecting a...

    UK GI table or sheet?

Hello all. Since diagnosis some 5 weeks ago, I have been really focussed upon keeping my BG below 8 and, through diet and exercise alone, it is working. However, I continue to get spikes when I try something different e.g. couscous. My BG shout up to 10.4 when I tested after 2 hrs, which was...

Type2 - Going to Spain no hablo Espanol!

Recently diagnosed as Type2. Taking bloods 4 types per day. Still getting to grips with impact of certain foods. So, here's the problem. We are off to Spain soon. Pre-diagnosis we were excited about trying all the Tapas and other delights. Now though we are nervous about how we can order food...

    Nurse says not to test

Hello Delphi I am only a newbie so cannot speak from real experience. However, what I will say is that, when I had my first appointment with the Diabetic Nurse, she basically gave me diet and exercise advice and did not think it necessary that I check my BG levels. However, when pressed she did...
