explaining what it's really like to live with Type 1

Diagnosed type 1 at 33. Sometimes think it's the best thing that could have happened to me. 1) I got fit. Probably healthier now than any point in my life since the age of 18 2) I've done some amazing things. A sudden sense of my own mortality gave me the drive to take a few risks instead of...

What's the lowest hypo value you're ever had?

Many years ago, in my first six months post diagnosis, I had a hypo so low the meter couldn't measure it. Never experienced anything like it since. It went nothing, nothing , nothing, what's that black spot in my eye... to tunnel vision and barely able to control my limbs. Literally took 30...

I'm 5 years in and trust me, it gets easier. I don't see myself as being any different to anyone else now except I need to test and inject and keep a bag of sweeties to hand. Learn carb counting as quick as you can and don't panic if you have a bad day. I'm still learning how my body behaves and...

    insulin, food and exercise

Hi. I'm type 1 (3 years) and exercise regularly, 3 or 4 times a week, mixed between cardio, weights and football. My big problem is I haven't worked out how to manage my diet for exercising. Am struggling to control hypos without taking on calories. Would appreciate good advice on a food regime...
