    Once I was a rep and walked a lot in horrible weather but never caught a cold.Once I was back working in an office I got all sorts. People who still go to work despite being ill are a menace especially if you are a carer and don't want to catch anything unnecessarily.

    Go and see the doctor (he'll appreciate a simple health problem for once!) and ,maybe , get the same stuff as me i.e. Loceryl. You sandpaper down the nail and apply this clear liquid once a week and after a few weeks it begins to improve to the point it eventually clears up.

    Type 2 Stacks of gym work and loads of walking plus a weightwatchers diet led me to reduce insulin intake from 2 x 42 per day to 1 x 24 and over a period an HbA1c of 40.

    Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

    Mine was 40 last time but that was with loads of exercise and loosing weight. Type 2 responds well to weight loss my tipping point was 7lbs of blubber shed and the Insulin demand dropped and dropped.

    statins, why?

    Probably trying to reach some target and get a cheque through the post for his trouble. I took statins but they just drained me of any energy after a few weeks. They block CoEnzyme Q 10 evidentially.

    Metformin gave me chest pains. Weird I know but its there buried in the small print under rare side effects. The pains came on before I read the notes so it wasn't psychsomatic.

    Fruit

    Ripe pineapple will raise sugar levels quite a lot. I love peaches and nectarines but these are off my list now.I buy slightly unripe apricots and stew them adding a few sweetners and they are fine and contain a lot of fibre.

    I had this or similar smelling smells that were not there. I used to be able to smell baking bread whilst driving my car. Strongly advise seeing your doctor about it.

    How often should I get a HbA1c test?

    If you are constantly trying to manage your levels downwards its important to see what works and what doesn't. As a resullt I go for 3 monthly blood tests. Don't ask permission just make an appointment with the nurse and get it done.

    I only really test 2 weeks before a review or before bedtime so that I dont hypo in the night which I tend to do.
