Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I have been everywhere between too low for the meter to read and retested at 2mmol an hour later for lowest and 24mmol absolute highest. I am often 7-12 2 hours after meals with reactive highs and lows. The 24 was the night after 2 ciders on an empty stomach (I don't usually drink but that's not...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

No food for 24 hours. Lemon tea and bucketloads of ice cubes to cool down. Metallic taste in my mouth all day and dizziness. Just tested 7.1. I'm not diabetic yet.

    Pre diabetic with IBS-C

I wonder what the relationship between slow digestive transit and blood sugar levels is. Would constipated individuals possibly digest food and have glucose enter the blood stream over a longer period of time making it harder for the pancreas to keep playing catch-up? I mean I find my BS is more...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

My GP said I'm not diabetic but mine was 6.3 and I'm looking at the majority of replies in this thread like...

does anyone else feel really ill after alcohol?

Decided to try again after my diabetic aunt told me I was being stupid and paranoid. Had a horribly sweaty/shaky hypo corrected with one or two quinoa falafels we had been nibbling, then went to bed at 11mmol a few hours later, woke up at 12 mmol with a headache and stayed 12-15 all day. Then...

does anyone else feel really ill after alcohol?

I will often have a hypo and rebound high the next morning which can take all day to get back to normal. If I manage not to go low I have horrible pins and needles in my hands and legs. I can't sit and get any relief. Everyone thinks I'm overreacting. People on this site regarding the effects of...

    Energy drinks

No they just load your bloodstream with glucose for a short time, ultimately. How would it make you any 'stronger' than just drinking fruit juice or a swallowing a bag of sugar. Those isotonic drinks might replace salts lost during exercise but it wont magically make you exercise better. ****, I...

    Corn Flakes!

The more carbs eaten, the more insulin you need and the bigger margin for error there is, am I right? Like of you miscalculate at higher doses needed to cover super carby things the higher the risk of things going south.. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Bad couple of weeks

I'm diet controlled (as yet undiagnosed) too but still hit 2s and lower.. Could have been it. Your reading wasn't a hypo but yes you can feel exactly as if you are having one if you are used to higher levels. Sorry you had to experience that. It can be scary and disorienting.. Best of luck Xx...

    Bad couple of weeks

Sorry for your loss, Jamrox :( May I ask if you were food shopping when you dropped low (for you)? I have had a few false and real hypos in the supermarket. I believe that there is a phase of insulin response to seeing/anticipating food. If I haven't eaten much that day I now eat a sweet or two...

    Corn Flakes!

Agreed. Most breakfast cereals are like 60-70g carbs per 100g and send me into the teens. For those of us not on insulin the only thing we can do to fix that is... Just not eat stuff :( But on the other hand, I cant stand the thought of needles whether I ate or not. Sent from the Diabetes...

Lillirose I think your friend was talking about a *fasting* blood sugar reading. Still doctors are useless as my fasting was over that.. If you had your blood sugar checked at the start, then after the glucose drink that is the OGTT/glucose tolerance test. It has many variations but the most...

Yes. At least mother now believes me when I explained to her about T2 being genetic. Her sister has been T2 since her late 20s along with all grandparents, most other aunts/uncles and my two cousins have just been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome as well at the age of 12. At least...

how high and how low have you been?

6 months down the line and getting worse. Lowest just said 'low' after alcohol, 2.5 is the lowest actual number. Highest 24.8. Both times felt like ****. OGTT came back as 7 fasting, 10 after 2 hours. I'm officially not diabetic though... Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Where's your BS limit?

My OGTT 2 hour reading was 10.something. Therefore normal. Therefore a 3rd GP emphatically stressed to me to go the **** home and stop being paranoid. Arrg. I'm derailing the thread with my nonsense again. Sorry :/ Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
