    Abbott libre continuous monitor

Whatever the lows whilst asleep they don't seem to be problematic and are probably from lying on the sensor. I notice that daytime lows are possible: a meal that causes a sharp rise to a high level then falls rapidly also causes a low, and the cgm low is consistent with the symptoms experienced...

Is the 2 hour reading conclusive?

I agree as we have been using the Libre for a week now and it makes it so easy to compare different foods. Hoping that after a month it's only necessary to repeat now and then as £50/fortnight is quite a cost.

    Type 2 Brown / white

Can you post the name of the Lidl protein roll please. Waitrose LivLife loaf is half carbs and works well for my wife.

    Type 2 Brown / white

Basmati is supposed to have lower GI than other rice and more fibre the better so brown Basmati best. Wholemeal bread only marginally better than white but Burgen Soy bread claims to be very low GI. Waitrose do a low carbohydrate loaf which seems to have small effect on my wife's sugar reading...

    Abbott libre continuous monitor

Low of 2.7 overnight. No comparison with a blood test (only discovered in the morning), but Type 2 are supposedly not at risk from low blood sugar.

    Abbott libre continuous monitor

Delivered yesterday and been in use 24 hours. Straightforward to use apart from the inability to download the software so only have the figures when the reader is used rather than every 15 minutes, along with a tiny graph . I think this is going to be a revelation. We assumed porridge was an...

    Abbott libre continuous monitor

Anyone had trouble downloading the software for the reader ? I get Server Error 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. The help desk initially said it wasn't available for Windows 10. So I don't...

    Abbott libre continuous monitor

Thanks. I should be OK with the data as my job involved data analysis/stats. At £50 the reader is still cheaper than any other device we'd find of use at the moment.

    Abbott libre continuous monitor

Unfortunately none of our devices have NFC (just my bank card where I don't want it !). Agree about the blood tests though as it's differences rather than absolute readings that may not be critical. Thought we could sell the reader if we get an NFC mobile.

    Abbott libre continuous monitor

That's exactly what I've been thinking. My wife isn't into the level of monitoring that most people on here practice, hence my interest in the Abbott device. I need something easy to use that will reveal any foods that she should avoid. Those may be the ones I try to avoid her eating, but...

    Abbott libre continuous monitor

Thanks, it wasn't so much the meaning of individual blood readings that caused a problem as connecting the readings with what had been eaten. I suspect that taking one reading half an hour after a meal wasn't sufficient. Our doctor wasn't enthusiastic about finger pricking, much preferring the...

    Abbott libre continuous monitor

I'm wondering about getting one of these for my T2 wife (on metformin) to use for a short while in the hope of identifying foods which spike her glucose. She doesn't use strips (she tried briefly when first diagnosed but we didn't make much sense of the readings). I am thinking that a continuous...

    huge conflict with dietician

So where are you getting your calories from ? It's hard to get as low as 80g/day. You either have to eat a lot of protein or a lot of fat, or both.

    huge conflict with dietician

I suppose the worry is that you are missing out on some nutrients. Do you get you carbohydrate from veg & berries ? Also how do you make up your calorific intake. Nuts are likely to be better than say high saturated fat foods. Too little carbohydrate and it's the Atkins diet, about but I'd be...

    Porridge

You can reduce sugar in porridge by using cinnamon and nutmeg to add flavour. With that and sweetened soy milk, half a teaspoon of sugar is enough. I'd go for Lo Salt.

    Prebiotics, vinegar, cinnamon

There are separate research trials which indicate improvement in insulin sensitivity from taking either prebiotics, vinegar or cinnamon. Is anyone incorporating these in normal daily intake ? It's not easy consuming the required quantity of prebiotics (unless you eat a lot of leeks or onions)...
