Newcastle Diet to reverse type 2 diabetes

Following the mirror is a great idea. I’ve lost zero pounds yet bizarrely two inches from my waist [emoji15]

Resolved to reverse t2 for the second time

Thanks for all the useful info here. I will take note @ickihun as I’ve suffered with running injuries previously. @Mike D I agree, it’s a longer trek than last time. @Mbaker yes I will have to use common sense here as I expect to have even less energy than now....if that’s even possible!! Day...

Find it difficult to loose weight

Hi Sophie, my weight is barely moving although my bg numbers have dropped from low twenties to average of 10 so far. I’ve decided to lock my bathroom scales away & focus on bg levels as the weight thing sets me on a downward spiral.

Newcastle Diet to reverse type 2 diabetes

When I reversed it in 2013 over a period of three months (no meds, just did the Newcastle diet) I had fully reversed it although the GP surgery kept calling me in for check ups annually. I ate whatever I wanted, fish & chips etc with no reaction....my pancreas was working normally. Over the...

Resolved to reverse t2 for the second time

Yes I did it in three months using ND and exercise. At that time my dn argued that there was no way I could reverse it, made me more determined. She was shocked at how well I did.

Resolved to reverse t2 for the second time

I was originally diagnosed in 2013, managed to reverse it until life got in the way & I slipped back resulting in HBA1C of 80 in November 2018 New year new beginnings...so today was day 1 of Newcastle diet & exercise programme. Went for a 4.2km run @ 9:30 this morning [emoji849] and had my 800...

Newcastle Diet to reverse type 2 diabetes

Hi Maggie, I’m starting ND today after four weeks of metformin and lchf getting me nowhere fast. Day 1 177lbs and bg 10.0 (which is the lowest I’ve had so far) I did this in 2013 and reversed my t2 diagnosis and then held it in remission for five years. I fell off the wagon with a job change...

    Feeling defeated

Hey ballabob, you and me both [emoji52] I haven’t been so high protein as I was vegetarian before this. I’m slowly trying to bring chicken & fish back into my diet. Did you see the comment about reducing protein? I’ve read that somewhere else too...maybe give that a try?

    Feeling defeated

Hi Jim, thanks, this goes some way to explain things and the slow progress. I am impatient by nature I’m afraid. So I shouldn’t be counting calories and stick to counting carbs & filling up with coffee & cream [emoji4] I was starting to think I should be counting calories as well as carbs. I...

    Feeling defeated

Hi Alison, thanks for this. I’m using my carb manager app and aiming for under 50g carbs per day. I’m not managing under 50g every day, going as high as 100g occasionally but usually somewhere in between. Trying to get my head around eating fat but think I’m getting there now. BG is priority...

    Feeling defeated

Thanks nomoredonuts and yes I did do it last time although my HBa1c was only 50 to begin with then. It was five years ago & the Newcastle diet was fairly new to the scene. I stuck to it, took up running and beat the diabetes. Changed job in 2016 to far more stressful and time consuming position...

    Feeling defeated

Hi ballabob I’ve only been taking metformin so far. Think I’d expected it to be a wonder drug that combined with lchf would have shown better results. Are you eating differently? Not sure what your other meds are?

    Feeling defeated

Just to add, I’m also beating myself up with taking some off work at the moment [emoji52] which I hate as I don’t think I ‘should’ be ill with this!

    Feeling defeated

Apologies for the negative post but I’m feeling defeated today and I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong. Was diagnosed with HB1ac of 80 3 weeks ago today. Started metformin 500mg x 2 twice a day, so 2000mg per day a few days later (delayed due to work commitments) I’d started eating low carb...

    Recently diagnosed type2

Heartening to read these comments. I was diagnosed at 80 two weeks ago. My bg readings have dropped from high 20s to hovering in low teens since then. LCHF and metformin. Not easy but better than the alternative. Good luck.

New to meds, concerned about side effects

Anyone experienced this...so today I had a reading of 9.1 after upping metformin to 2 x 500g am and again pm yesterday. I’ve felt really ill all day but also cold.....and I am never cold! I ate an hour ago, including 27g carbs, and all of a sudden I’m back to being really hot!!! Is this related...

New to meds, concerned about side effects

Thanks that’s really useful. I’ve only been testing in the mornings and occasional bed time. I like the diary idea too. I’ll start this tomorrow....and wait!

New to meds, concerned about side effects

Ok think I need to check I’m doing this right. Been on two metformin per day, 500mg in the morning and same again before bed. Eating as low carb as possible, kept to under 100g per day. This has been since thurs last week. So far no weight loss and bg sticking at 16/17 first thing each morning...

New to meds, concerned about side effects

Some really useful info there so thank you everyone for responding. I’m on day 2 of metformin now, yesterday was ok, few stomach cramps last night (I took one am and one pm) but otherwise ok so far. BG still at 17 in the morning, which is better than 23-31 last week, but weirdly, I’ve lost two...

    Anyone else on Sukkarto?

Interesting about PPI as I’m taking Omeprazole so remains to be seen if the Sukkarto is absorbed and effective.
