    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Asked my consultant about it last week-he said it was up to me but he wouldn't recommend it at the current time-saying it judged the glucose in the skin rather than the blood you would get from finger prick and says the trials they have done are not large enough or approved as of yet. He said it...

    Honeymooners!?

Definitely still in my honeymoon period been diagnosed for 15 months. Was originally on 10 units of Lantus, 4,6,6 apidra. Got decreased quite quickly, and was taken off Lantus for around 2 months at the end of last year, but my levels were all over the place doing that, so put myself back onto...

    Watching man city

Am a Liverpool supporter and original posters theory definitely applies. Was 4.3 before I had my tea last night, and had my normal 2 units of apidra and just drank water. Went to bed straight after then penalties and my reading was 15.8! Normally if it was this high I would have taken a...

Insulin expiry once taken from fridge

I am on Lantus and Apidra, both pens say they have a 30 day shelf life from opening, when first diagnosed a year ago I was told to stop using if it went cloudy. The issue is that I only use 60 units of lantus in 30 days, plus 60 units ensuring no air pockets, therefore there are 180 unused...

How many test strips do you use a month?

Minimum of 4 a day, before meals and before bed, on basal/bolus so basically before I inject. Will test pre and post exercise too and whenever I feel like I may be having a hypo, when not feeling 100% will test every 2 hours as when I am ill I tend to go a lot higher so need more insulin

    Flying

I am going to Portugal with mates in July and Croatia with family in August. Both times I am flying with Monarch, they have said I am ok to carry insulin and needles as long as I have a letter from the doctor confirming this (dated no more than 14 days before travel) or I can use a repeat...

    Higher readings before bed

Thanks very much, I will leave it as it is for now, and see what they say next time I am at the diabetic clinic, to see if they are happy with it. I thought it could be the Lantus having ended, so will discuss moving this, but then I think it will just mean I am higher at a different point in...
