    Flu shot?

No one made any such claim - the flu vaccine does not cause the flu, But it's not that uncommon to get a mild fever and such, and it's not inconceivable that someone could get a cold at the same time (note that the flu vaccine does not work against the common cold).

Masterchef, fine dining and low carbs??

I thought the 5 star restaurants mostly serve low carb, low protein and low fat food I.e. An empty plate with a bit of garnish.

    NICE guidelines consultation.

CGMs are included in the algorithm, which means that it would be possible for doctors to prescribe them.

From The Times today - Medication (General, but including Statins)

How statins work is irrelevant - for all I care they might just as well be magical pills made from literal fairy dust. The intricate details of how this works, and how statins affect mortality is of interest only to medical researchers looking to develop new drugs. What I do care about is the...

From The Times today - Medication (General, but including Statins)

I'm sure there'd be a nobel price in it for you if you could share how you are going to identify the one person out of 100 who will not have a heart attack as a result of the statins. But yeah, if you feel that a life is worth less than the cost of 100 people taking statins for five years then...

Are there any carbs in fresh air?

I'd be worried if there were carbs in the air because you'd be at an imminent risk of a dust explosion.

    Insulin ..... A postcode lottery?

Just to educate you before you are ruined by a lawsuit for slander - neither Lantus nor Levemir are "original insulins" (that term would only really apply to NPH and human insulin). Implying that the NHS is giving you old, ineffective drugs when prescribing Levemir (or Lantus?) is slanderous...

    Reduce metformin

As for the original question, Metformin is treatment, not a cure and good blood glucose results show that the treatment is working but not that it is no longer needed.

Since echinacea doesn't work (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21173411) there is no reason to take it

    Is T1 diabetes preventable?

You have my sympathies, but there is a reason scientists bother with large studies - because one case study is completely irrelevant. That is incorrect - if beta cells were holding static, you'd be lying in hospital in same state you were first diagnosed in. For you to have better BG than when...

    I give up!

I strongly suggest you go see your doctor again since what you describe sounds A LOT like T1 being miss diagnosed as T2/prediabetes - weight loss in particular and polyuria should trigger alarm bells if you mention them.

    Dr Bernstein queries

He advises to split doses larger than 10u iirc because he claims that large doses have greater variability (I.e., if you need 35u, Bernstein would recommend four injections of 9u each). If you try this, however, be prepared to explain to your gp that you aren't selling needles on the black market.

    Dr Bernstein queries

Regular insulin means older insulin identical to the insulin produced by the pancreas (which is sometimes still used in the US because it's cheaper). The insulin you are more likely to be prescribed are Humalog (insulin lispro), Novorapid (insulin aspart) or Apidra (insulin glulisine) which are...

Breath test to spot type 1 in Children

Seems a bit late to wait until you can smell acetone on their breath - might as well wait for them to fall into a coma before you do anything.
