Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

Breakfast was warm ciabatta and hot h/m seitan bacon with plenty of black coffee to bring us round after our somewhat interrupted night. Lunch - son had a bacon sandwich (husband kindly prepared it - don't think I could have touched it), husband had cheese and biscuits and I had a mixed salad...

Home again for a while. Thank you for all the hugs! Came home to wonderful news: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/aug/21/morrisons-moves-to-end-killing-of-male-calves-at-birth Maybe if they escape the birth cull they might not be crated for veal soon either, and will be reared...

We got called out to the hospital in the middle of the night because the doctor wanted to see us. He was wonderful and gently explained to mil that fil is shutting down slowly and it is his job now to make sure it is absolutely painless but given that dad is in his 90's he thinks any treatment...

Back from the hospital. I am very tired - I left the house at 7.30 this morning and worked all day, then raced out to the hospital to pick mil up and take her home. Finally back in my own home. My fil is passing slowly. His kidneys are failing (the doctors thought they might; they had to give...

Home at last, and munched lunch. Had to go straight to Mil from work, drop her at the hospital, pop to M&S for a dirty vegan dinner (junk food!) and finally make it home. I suspect fil might be in for a while. Mum's neighbour (good friend of theirs) popped in yesterday and was telling us that...

I kinda guess. And go by smell. If it smells right, it's done. Dunno how but usually I'm OK, one way or the other. He likes precision - hence he is the Death of Kitchen Timers.... (a la Pratchett's Death of Rats)

I remember that about 30 years ago my mil said to me "If he walked into an empty room with a single feather on the floor, he'd fall over it". In the years since I've come to think she's absolutely right! Dizzy will let me step over him without turning a hair; if husband goes to step over him...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

B/fast was just toast & marmite - wasn't that hungry, really. Lunch - chucked some left over mushroom in strong garlic gravy (leftover from a Chinese meal) into a pan with a tin of lentil & veg soup. Very savoury & tasty. Didn't bother with bread because lentils are filling. Dinner - h/m...

My husband murders kitchen timers. Lots of them. They come here full of hope and ready to serve; a few weeks later Mr Heavy-Handed drops them, or worse - drops them and accidentally treads on them, puts something heavy/hot on top ..... and there they are - another dead kitchen timer, headed for...

Yay! Apparently I have overpaid my gas bill for the year (today was our day of reckoning for the year) so they are refunding the overpay. I am looking at four books - three ebooks and one paper (they don't do it as a kindle). Yippee!! Or, one set of gorgeous mala beads and three books...

Done half my day's chores, all I have left to do is make next week's b/fast seitan. After that - long wallow with a luxurious bathbomb before reading my book. Not taking the kindle into the bath, or a paper book. I take my glasses off in the bath and it helps shut out the world (because...

My fil is still in, and unfortunately made an attempt to stand on his own yesterday with no nurse in the room. He fell and ripped his drip out -the whole shebang. Unfortunately this took a huge strip of skin off his forearm and he now has a large dressing on (he's on warfarin and bleeds like...

That's one brilliant thing about them - my husband wakes up at noises and lights but with a kindle - the page is lit enough to read but not to disturb. Love it! And the charge just goes on and on.

My new kindle cover came! This doesn't sound like much, I know, but I'm so pleased. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Compatible-Paperwhite-Generation-Lightweight-Protective-Z-Library/dp/B07SBD4S7H/ref=sr_1_68?keywords=kindle+cover+paperwhite+10th+generation+2018&qid=1566047111&s=gateway&sr=8-68 Just...

I can't do hair at all. Even when it was long the most I could do was twist it up and hold in place with mini chopsticks. I enjoyed legal work very much, but to make the fees you have to slog your heart out. You can never be the boss because in law firms paralegals are shrimp - valued shrimp...

Morning all - 4.9 on rising, and pretty chuffed about that! Yesterday was guess and inject for the whole day, which I rounded off with half a bar of dark vegan chocolate that I forgot to inject for anyway. How I ended up at 4.9 is a mystery and a blessing.

@MeiChanski - I don't drive (epilepsy) but I do work. I'm an au naturel kind of person - backroom so it's never much mattered what I look like. Back when I was a paralegal the partner I worked for was perfectly happy with me in somewhat boho clothes with multi coloured hair...... I wouldn't...
