    Hypothyroid and t2d.

I never felt Levo did much for me so I take NDT instead. I buy it online and self medicate. No experience of metformin at all. If you feel hypothyroid they should do the tests and or refer you to an endo.

    Hypothyroid and t2d.

You need to get the actual thyroid hormones tested, FT3 and FT4. Levothyroxine contains the storage hormone T4 and it needs to be converted to the active hormone T3.

Low Carbers: Do You Take Nutritional Supplements?

I don't have high vitamin D. At the end of summer vitamin D is at its highest. That doesn't mean the level will be enough in the spring. Where I live you can count on getting enough sun for vitamin D from May until August. The rest of the year we will have to live on we got during the summer. Or...

    Any help would be appreciated

It can be difficult to call an ambulance when you've passed out. Are you on your own or is there someone with you to help you? Personally I think you should be in hospital, getting treatment or at least a few doses of cortisone to tide you over the weekend.

You know what? If they suspect Addison's I think you may not need to go through the ordeal of a 72 h fasting test. I think you should go to hospital next time you faint or feel ill. Low glucose is dangerous, low cortisol is even more serious. A young girl, a neighbour of mine, died a couple of...

Low Carbers: Do You Take Nutritional Supplements?

I used to be low on vitamin D but after a year or two on LCHF my vitamin D level improved vastly. One autumn it was 48, a year or two later it was 148. Possibly the large amount of healthy, organic butter and other good fats have helped. The level still falls over winter so I still supplement...

    water

So what do you drink? Water is usually the safest option. If you are worried you are dehydrated there are a few test you can do, like pinching the skin on your hand or on the upper side of your underarm. You can also measure the amount urine you produce and look at the colour.

I will answer you one last time. In the case of insulinomas what food you eat doesn't affect the insulin output much. The nature of insulinomas is to constantly secrete insulin. This is is what they do. The clue is in the name. In order to balance the insulin produced eating carbs is a good idea...

    Any help would be appreciated

In the case of untreated insulinoma -- not that I say that Claire has one -- I would have thought the reason to eat carbs and to do so more or less continuously is to balance the constant output of unwanted insulin in order not to pass out from low blood sugar. So yes,in order to ensure that the...

    Any help would be appreciated

That may be true for people with reactive hypoglycaemia but so far @Claireyt don't know what kind of hypoglycaemia she has. If it's something like an insulinoma then eating carbs may be the only option.

Does anyone know if there is a connection between hypothyroidism and T2DM?

Hypothyroidism and diabetes, both T1 and T2, is a common combination. If he still has symptoms he may need a higher dose. Personally I never felt thyroxine did much for me so am now on NDT instead. There is also synthetic T3 he could try in combination with Levothyroxine. He may need to find a...

Does anyone know if there is a connection between hypothyroidism and T2DM?

There is an association between hyperthyroidism and insulin resistance, less so with hypothyroidism.

    Anemia and possibly ceoliac

So if someone who is not coeliac goes glutenfree and recovers from pain or tiredness or psoriasis or something else blah-like, what is it they experience? Blah-relief? I don't know if you have any experience of things like psoriasis but from those who suffer from it I have understood they...

    low carb diet in hospital

Last year I was hospitalised with pneumonia. They were very helpful and really did what they could to feed me what I could eat. For example, eggs weren't served but they boiled some for me. Not that I was very hungry as I was so ill. I'm in Sweden though and LCHF is probably more accepted here.

Even more close relatives with diabetes!

I always knew I had a very high risk of diabetes as most relatives on my dad's side had it and also my mum was diagnosed with diabetes in her seventies. Now it turns out all of my mum's half siblings were diabetic too. I think I need to dig a bit deeper in the family history on the absent...

    LCHF without keto-Help!

The simple solution is to eat more fat to make up for the energy you lose from cutting down on carbs.
