    Hopeful, the portents are good

Thanks Karbstruck I believe that it it is not unusual for mornig BG readings to be quite high; something to do with the liver releasing glucose to give you energy to start the new day. However, I am sure that there are members of the forum that know more about this than me. Good luck Jack

    Weight Loss Problems

I think the body fat versus muscle thing is the key turvell. As a former body builder and rugby player I still weigh 94kg altough my waist size is 36in. According to BMI iI am still borderline overweight/ obese. Fortunately my diabetic nurse is somewhat more enlightened than yours and she told...

No longer have Type 2 diabetes - Official!

Yesterday I had the same verdict Ellis HbA1c down to 32 from 81 in July 2013. It might not be a cure, merely a postponement, but it certainly put a spring in my step! The diabetic nurse said it was only the third time she had witnessed it in her (long) career.

    Newbie

It sounds like your getting it about right Bluetit. Initially, I lost weight at a similar rate to you and I did not find it hard to stick to the regime. In fact I do not think that I could revert to my former diet. Once again good luck!

    Newbie

Hi Bluetit 7 months ago I was also diagnosed T2. After considerable weight loss I was told just today that my blood tests indicated that I had "reversed" my diabetes. My initial BG and HbA1c readings were higher than yours. Try the diet and exercise route it worked for me. If you do get a BG...

    Hopeful, the portents are good

I got my results today HbA1c 32mmols/mol (5.1%). My diebetes nurse is speaking of me as only the third person in her career who has "reversed" their T2. Cop for that Mr. Diabetes!!:) On the downside she is not happy with my Cholesterol levels (5.8. 1.76 HDL 3 LDL). If my diet was any cleaner...

think my body's being a delicate flower!

I get the full range of gastric upsets from Metformin, flatulence, diarrhoea and constipation, (not all at the same time). I have been unable to correlate a given side effect with when I take the drug or whether I take it with food or not, or what foods I take it with. However, the side effects...

    metformin or not

Hi Liam If your Doctor has prescribed Metformin I would take it; at least initially, until further check ups indicate it is no longer necessary. Try and obtain a BG meter it will give a much better indication of the measure of control that you have over your diabetes. My diabetes specialist...

    Anyone had a liver scan

Hi Jezza When I had the blood tests that revealed my type 2, elevated liver enzyme levels were also detected. Subsequently, I was sent for a liver ultrasound scan. This is totally painless and involves having your belly coated with a jelly and having a probe rubbed over it, quite pleasant...

    Opticians

Yesterday I made an appointment at the opticians for an eyetest with a view to obtaining some corrective spectacles. When I answered in the affirmative to their question "are you diabetic?" they insisted on doing the full retina map thing even though my routine diabetes eye check up a few weeks...

You should not go hypo on Metformin but it is a good idea to test to see how well you have your blood glucose under test.
