Thanks Jane

I've had two days of feeling like my good old self and have found my BG below double figures. I will definitely look into Dr bernstein - I like to have a good read up.

I have an appointment with the specialist nurse on Tuesday and I'm very intrigued as to what to expect.

As always thanks for the feedback - I'd rather listen to you guys rather than scaremongering daily mail articles.

Went to see the DSN on Wednesday, she didn't tell much that I had not already found out, some of what they recommend I do not agree with, but will follow my own route after listening and not dismissing anything I have read or been told, I was diagnosed on 30/12/15, and had a reading of 20.9 I am now down to an average of 7, but have cut out all sugar and a lot of carbs, Being younger must be tough, but your health is the most important thing, and like you I have found this forum a wealth of knowledge and have used a lot of things on here to get my levels down, I am T2, but have known a few T1's in my time, seems most of them liked a drink or two but I do not think that it was related... :). I have noticed when I am low (what would be normal BG) I feel light headed and giddy, when I am high, I get grumpy. We can carry this journey on with the other newbies on here and give DB a good kicking.

One thing to watch out for...and its a matter of choice, weigh your foods when trying to get your bs under control, i found that as i changed my foods to the lchf i still needed to portion control...then my bs weight bp all fell like a stone ,and have stayed there

Hi there - I was just wondering, are you also suffering from stress? I believe that a lot of stress in your life can lead to anxiety and that this can mess with your blood sugar control as well as leaving you exhausted and vulnerable. Life is very pressurised for young people these days and when you're young you think you can get away with living on an adrenalin high, but eventually it will take it's toll. You are assessing your lifestyle at the moment so maybe look at ways to tackle stress too?

PS another alternative to bread are LIDL's protein rolls: 9 grams of carbs per roll. I find half of one is more than enough - they're really filling ( made from soya and linseed).

Thanks Jane.

Visit with DSN today went well (I think) no GAD / c- peptide results to confirm type. She said that I have reduced my hba1c from 88 to 80. Hard to get excited when I have no idea what it means but she seemed to think it was progress. No change to meds - 1000 metformin and 12 units of levemir once a day.

Discussed LCHF diet which she seemed to be supportive but was a little contradictory about needing carbs due to insulin. Is anyone able to confirm if the carbs she refers to relates to those in vege?

She has challenged me to bring my weight in by one stone so am looking to really nail the weight side of life.

The words type two were bandied around more today as I have been treated as type 1 since initial results.

This is one crazy journey. (still keeping positive)
