I rang the surgery to ask what my status was with regards to insurance and they said I need to come in for a review? ?
The receptionist said I was on the IGR.

I said what's the IGR?

She said hold the line and came back 2 mins later, it stands for IMPAIRED GLUCOSE REGISTER.

Anybody aware of this status?.

According to Nice IGR means Impaired Glucose Regulation, which I think means pre-diabetes or at risk of developing diabetes.

Yes, it means Pre-diabetic and at risk of diabetes. If your last HbA1c was 42 to 47, this is why. Also, some GPs will put people on that register even though they have HbA1cs under 42 in the non-diabetic range. I believe this is to ensure they continue to get regular check ups, retinal screening, foot tickling, and so forth. People removed from the diabetes register are potentially in danger of missing out on these checks - although not in every case.
