I was diagnosed last june with type 1 diabetes.
Not much has changed in the last 12 months in terms of insulin requirements for me, but i just wanted to repeat the best bit of advice i ever read on here which was to stay on insulin from the point of diagnosis. This will help with the control of blood sugars in the long term and it also lengthens the hooneymoon period by preserving the beta cells.
Do not listen to consultants who recommend you come off insulin, then "see how things progress". This will shorten any honeymoon period and lead to much tougher control over time.
