As a type 2, my body will sound the alarm for my liver to raise my blood glucose level even though my fasting blood glucose level is 100 - 110 mg/dL, above what's within the normal range, if 1) I don't eat within a half hour of waking and 2) if I don't eat lunch within 2 to 3 hours following breakfast. Then I'm fine for the rest of the day eating every 4 to 5 hours, longer if needed with a snack of nuts.
I eat 3 to 4 low carb meals a day - (an egg or meat for protein, vegetables and berries for carbohydrates, and mostly butter or EVOO for healthy fats) - typically with no snacking. Not sure why I have to eat so much, but weight and blood glucose levels for the most part have been stable for a year now.
Perhaps it's hormonal. For the last 13 years I've been popping in and out of a condition called subclinical hyperthyroid.
I know I'm grossly oversimplifying this...based on my experience I think your body is telling you that it's hungry. My body is not happy if I don't load up with food at the beginning of the day.
I'll be interested in learning whether or not you're able to make an adjustment that resolves this issue for you. Having diabetes is quite the puzzle. I'm still learning and trying different strategies too.
