I used to have poorly controlled diabetes and then I started not getting erections around late 2013 and thought it was a normal thing it still hasn't been fixed and ive probably only had 1 proper hard on since then. Can this be fixed without any pills and just naturally and what is causing this?

G'day mate, your really need to see a dr for a referral..., with about half of diabetics having problems, no need to be embarrassed, they do this stuff all day every day. Don't mess about with internet muck.
so just man up and ask, you'll be back in the saddle in no time :)

"Erectile dysfunction is a common problem for more than half of men with diabetes. Musicki says that an estimated 50 percent to 75 percent of diabetic men have erectile dysfunction to some degree, [a rate] about threefold higher than in non-diabetic men."

aaw mate...
You really should get a referral ASAP and if you have not done so already..... get your blood sugars below 7.7.... even after eating.
I have no doubt that you can reverse this but only when you drop your Blood sugar.
Have you tried low carb diets? Excercise?
Are you on a pump? Perhaps think about going on the Omnipod. Its tubeless.
Maybe Dexcom CGM? You are only 16 and you will get funding for all this.
Please dont leave this.
Im a young guy and type 1 so I know how you must be feeling. I really want to help you.

This will reverse but after months of good control.

Whats you HBA1C?

Have you spoken to your parents? If not, I understand.
Im here if you need any advice or if you want to ask anything else.
How often do you test your blood?

BTW Theabott.... I dont agree with the other post about messing about with 'internet muck'. Whilst I understand what the poster means, I think its good that you have reached out over this forum. I think you have manned up with this posting so well done.

My advice is to use this forum wisely. Never give your details out. You will get some valuable advice and loads of support.

You problem can be fixed without pills and naturally so stop worrying. Youre already doing tthe right thing by talking about it.
Start with your parents. If you cant do this, then youre old enough to tackle this on your own with you diabetes specialist. Just dont be afraid to talk to them. They deal with this everyday. Its completely natural and normal to talk about.

Start off today by getting your sugar levels down because the doctors will all tell you this. Make an appointment with the specialist.
Start doing excercise...... and most importantly stop worrying about it. Focus on good control. Healthy eating, loads of water.

When a problem...even as small as this presents itself.... caused by diabetes, then NEVER ignore it. Always deal with it straight away.

If you want advice on a pump like the omnipod, CGM, healthy eating, how to keep blood sugars under 7.7..... just ask.
Have you done a DAFNE course?

There are also other reasons besides D that can cause lack of hardness etc... Stress, genuinely thinking that you should-but actually not comfortable with person, surroundings etc. even self-hardening can take a decline in these circumstances too. Anxiety etc..

However D can play apart too. So you do really need to speak to a GP about this. GP's honestly deal with private parts every day, it's nothing out of the ordinary for them. Don't be embarrassed...

Your blood levels need to be normalised, please let us know what your bloods are running at, as these can be sorted out to give you a better chance of long term good health...
