I was diagnosed type 2 in March with fasting blood glucose of 14, and a 2am reading of 16 5hrs after eating.
The diabetic nurse tried to dissuade me from blood glucose testing. I ignored her and bought 1 from boots with 25 strips. I kept a food diary and called on the GP 4 days later armed with the data.
The GP was very supportive of BG testing, so long as I was using the data to make changes to my diet and to understand the condition.
3 months on my fasting blood glucose is hovering around 6-7. I have lost 18kg and now have a BMI of 26.8 and weigh 96.6kg.
My HbA1c is 46 after 3 months of diet control.
I'm also encouraged that I can eat a bread roll now without my BG spiking over 10. Last night 1 bread roll produced a spike of 8.6. 6.8 before, 7.4 2 hours later.
I am determined to get my weight down to 85kg >25 BMI.
Type 2 diagnosed March 2013, diet controlled
