1st Diabetes review(type 2) confused and a bit gutted

Hi there, i know it's hard if you're not built that way but YOU know you deserve a pat on the back, I seriously don't know why anybody gives a monkey's what a stranger (nurse) thinks? Who cares if she thinks it's the metformin or a sprinkle of fairy dust, who gives a you know what if she thinks you're responsible for your blood pressure going up? Nobody can make you feel down about it all other than you. If you don't learn to think differently about these medical people who see thousands of patients and speak to them all in the same (slightly pompous) tone you will spend the next 30 or 40 years or whatever permanently depressed. Let's face it most of our families don't praise us when we know we've done well because they don't really understand the colossal effort involved, the only praise required is that from your fellow diabetics! WELL DONE!!!!!! (Btw, I do appreciate the work professionals do but for some reason I cannot stand some of these smug people who think they know best).

Have a big pat on the back from me. That is a great achievement in just a short time. :)

Decide what YOU want to do about Metformin, and do it. They can only offer medication, then can't force it on you.

Well done.

Well done on your HbA1c. I’m another one who’s GP accepts that I get white coat syndrome. I too am allowed to monitor my own BP for a week to 10 days before my appts and he then works out an average from my readings. At diagnosis last year I was on two BP meds but have since Feb have needed one :)

I get white coat syndrome too. My GP practice has recently agreed to me posting home readings online for them which are, invariably, within the normal range.

A couple of years ago I ended up wearing one of those meters day and night and spent the whole time fretting about when it was likely to take a reading so of course my readings were high.

Now I have my own meter I feel far more in control.
