Hi there. I've just had my 1st appointment with the DSN (Diabetes Specialist Nurse). She will examine your feet to check for any sores, including the soles and check between your toes. She will also check your pulse for each foot. Yep, I didn't realise that a pulse could be felt in your feet but that's what she did, along with a medical student who was also present. She will also check the sensation and feeling on the soles of your feet. I don't know what the instrument was called but it looks like a plastic stick with a very fine wire attached to it. She will touch each foot in different places and ask if you can feel it each time. I was asked to shut my eyes / look away whilst she did this. Thankfully my feet were fine :) Advice wise, she'll tell you to do a daily self check of your feet, keep them moisturised and to wear socks/shoes and slippers around the house. I'm terrible for going barefoot in the summer and I rarely wear slippers until the depths of winter set in. I'm going to have to get some that I like and start wearing them I think. Hope this helps?
