Ok, so when I was meant to up the pills and take 2 metformin I spoke to my doc and he was very happy with my levels shooting down and said continue with 1. (500mg) which I did and levels are good.

Affter seeing DN she advised to take 2 as it would not hurt good for your heart etc etc. so I did for 2 days. My levels have stayed the samish lowering nicely as before, as I went out for a great meal last night, BG levels spiked to 7.4 1 hour after which expected, I forgot to take my pill with me so did not have 2nd one. My levels were 5.7 this morning which is great.

I am thinking of just taking the 1 again as per my Doc as I feel this was ok and my LC diet is what i want to achieve more with just the 1 Merformin. What are you thoughts?

Thanks

Scot

I would go back and talk to the nurse as she is the specialist in this area before going against her advice I know when I was on it had to up it slowly as could not tolerate it very well.

The DN was not happy with me doing a low darb diet and said I should eat more carbs and having the 2nd pill would allow me to increase them, this as far as I am concerned is the reason she wanted me to take 2. Now upon taking the 2nd pill, I had an ever so slightly increased carb lunch and my levels went higher then they have done for 2 weeks.

Hi. I think you know that your DN is churning out the same old NHS nonsense. Why increase the foods that add to your T2 and then take more medication to try to control the resulting glucose increase. Metformin has only a small effect on blood glucose hence increasing the carbs is a bad suggestion.

Yup sure do, I cannot believe they dismiss this. I was a little naughty this evening, had a cupcake and a few tiny cakes, my levels 1 hour later was 6.4 (the wine thing helps I believe). And did not take 2nd pill. That's I for the weekend no more treats. But my levels did not really go that bad.
