Hi mrsgadget, welcome to the forum, I like your self am new to all this, The main thing that I have learnt from reading the forums and by testing before and after eating is that carbohydrates are the single most thing that will cause your blood sugar levels to spike.

I have cut out a lot of foods that are high in carbohydrate and it really does work, my fasting bg at diagnosis was 19, now it averages around 4- 7

Out of interest may I ask what you ate before you were testing your levels?

to be honest i have not been given much advise and as i have IBS as well i can not eat a lot of fruit so i do tend to eat a lot of bread mostly toast and potatoes with my meals as i dont know what else to eat
my new results have come back from my fasting but not know what they are yet as i can not get app to see doc till next friday all they said is that they where not normal but acceptible and i need to see doc.
my levels today have been 14.7 this morning and tonight after my food 3hours after they where 17.5
so i am a bit lost in all this and need some sort of diet to follow from somewhere
PLEASE HELP ME

Hi mrsgadget

The first thing is to try to understand what you've been told and what impact that has on your blood glucose - it sounds as if you have a meter and you are testing, so try to test yourself before you eat and two hours after - that way you can build up a picture of things you can eat and stuff you have to stay away from

A lot of people here low carb and find that they can bring their bg under tighter control by doing that.

In your case, getting up early, unfortunately you are going to have to think ahead and plan something that you can 'eat on the run' if you have limited time to make breakfast. Have a look in Low Carb Recipes you'll find a load of helpful info and recipes there

If you post in the Introductions section, Daisy will be along to do her famous - what you can and what you can't eat list

Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and if you don't get a reply, it might just have been a slow day or a busy day  and your post got overlooked - just ask it again, we're a friendly lot so stick with us :)

Edited - to change some stuff

You may have been overlooked here because you were not the original poster xx
