Went and had my appoinment today with the Consultant at the hospital. In 2 years since diagnosis I've seen 7 different Consultants. I haven't seen the same one twice so always a painful first 10 mins while they explain what diabetes is to me.

Currently on 2 x 500mg metformin a day and no insulin.

Has anyone has this experience or do people generally see the same Consultant?

A couple of nuggets from the meeting
'The changes will happen really quickly' - I said that's what i was told two years ago.

'When it does you need to go to A&E' - I'm testing my blood so hopefully i won't get to that stage.

My Hba1c was 50. I did explain that my Hba1c has gone from 42 (was 95 at diagnosis to 45 to 48 and now to 50. This doesn't suggest a sudden change but a gradual decline in my insulin production.

She did ask if my bloods were often over 10. I explained that they are not because I go for a walk for an hour after tea.......she wasn't bothered by this.

Told me not to increase metformin dosage yet as no point!

Sorry for the rambley post but if possible would like to hear people's views.

Off to Lanzarote on Sunday to keep my sugar levels down by drinking my body weight in red wine each day!
