Thought I'll share with you guys next years running plan's and ask what does you list look like, (if you've started it yet).

2nd march - Eastbourne half
October - Beachy head marathon (when the entries open)

Not sure if I'll be able to add anymore to the list yet but I do like a target to aim for.

HbA1c 53mmol/mol 14/8/13

funny i am just going through the events on the runners world site, so far just the london marathon, but its gonna be a long list :)
best of luck with yours

i may have to have a look at eastbourne itll be a nice warm up to london and my mum lives in newhaven so she could come and cheer me on hehe

Sorry its a bit late, congrates for getting into london.

If i can convince my wife to not work, or the grandparents to take the kids i will hopefully be able to add the Hastings half as well.
Then again the look i got for talking about the Conti Lightning Run, i think i'll just keep on dreaming.

New Year's Eve 10k
June 1st - 23 mile Fell race
Aug 1st 40 mile ultra
Sept - 1/2 mara
New Year's Eve 10k

Intend to raise some money for charity as well.

I have 10km events in Jan, Feb, Mar, May and then onto some longer stuff.

March 16 miles
April 21.1 km
August 14 miles

Didn't make it into London Marathon or Berlin so will need to find another one to enter.
Hope to do 69 Miler in June and a 56 Miler in Sept.

What's the Ultra you are doing on August 1?

I'm also fitting in L'etape du tour (148km cycle) in July so that may change all my planned running events!

Grimsthorpe. DNF at 30 miles last year with a knee injury.

I'd like to do more, but travel with work makes it hard to get quality training in and find weekends to race. The big target for 2015 is the River Ayr way, and coast to coast cycle.

What are your two ultras?

My aspirations aren't so grand.

When I complete the NHS Choices C25K in early January 2014 I'll be looking to do a local Parkrun and then take it from there. I'm hoping to build up to a 10K and then work on increasing my pace.

Long term I'd like to do a half marathon and then a marathon but, I'm in no rush ... as yet!

Don't knock yourself, every one started by putting one foot in front of the other, even the likes of Paula Radcliffe or Mo Farah. Just getting out the front door on a ****** day is a big step on it's own.

As part of my campaign to compete at least as often as I marshal, friends offered me a lift to Hard Moors 30 and 15 (on coast of North York Moors), as one was running 30 miles, the other marshalling. We first met when I gave them a lift back to start on day 3 of 3 day race, met again when I staffed registration and a twice passed checkpoint on a mountain race, when I offered them a lift, which wasn't time convenient. When you're told "we'll pick you up at 6am on New Years Day", how can your refuse? I didn't think that jumping straight into a 30 mile ultra trail run was prudent, but 15 miles would be OK. So, I was very happy to finish, not last, and with many non finishers due to challenging conditions - very wet and windy, in addition to already muddy tracks. A good start to 2014 :) with lots more races coming up. Just need to run instead of, or as well as, marshal some.

Sounds excellent Copepod. It was certainly wild and wet down here on the Fens. I didn't do anything like your Hardmoors, just a new year's eve road 10k, but that was hard enough work with 3km of it into a 20-25mph headwind.

Luckily the rain held off until about an hour after I finished, but even so, my hard trained for PB was elusive.

Good result ElyDave - and not the day for a PB. Although, 2nd home at Hardmoors 30 was a woman who beat the previous men's record, and 1st home was man 15 minutes ahead of her. But even completing 15 or 30 course was considered an achievement. 15 race was actually 16.5 miles, by the way. Good luck for for 10km PB - it will come!

Actually, I moved from the fens just this year, and have worked occasionally in Ely, when I took my bike on the train, then had short hill up to to Cathedral and out to hospital, a very short journey, but which could be be interesting depending on wind direction and behaviour of muscovy ducks. Getting to Wisbech I had to drive, obviously, but could sometimes stop to wander round Welney (unless had to take delay due to flooding). I orienteered a bit, but never did any road runs, partly because I worked 1 weekend in 3 (at a country park, where runs sometimes happened) plus extra sessions to organise children's activity birthday parties. Now I'm in Yorkshire, which has opened up more interesting options with shorter drives than I used to do to Peaks, Lakes, Moors etc. Parkrun at Wimpole is a really enjoyable course, with quite a hill for Cambridgeshire! Much less croweded than Cambridge Parkrun at Milton Country Park.
