2017/2018 Football Season

Plenty of transfers went on over the last few days that the transfer window was open. Nahki Wells has gone to from Town to Burnley for £5M. Cant remember how much we paid for him when we bought him from Bradford.
Elsewhere there's been plenty of high cash sales. When you see the amount of money clubs have paid its eye watering. Football is not a game its a bloody money making scheme now.

Well, after all my - and his - whingeing, Virgil van Dijk is still a Saints player. I'm not sure how motivated he is going to be, given that he clearly wanted to move, but on the other hand if he plays like a plonker this season, no-one is going to want him, so he'd be shooting himself in the foot.

It's all wheels within wheels, there are two schools of thought about this. One (which is the public version from the club) is that the days of Saints being regarded as a source of good players by the big clubs are over, and they must not expect to be able to hoover up the cream of our squad every summer; the other (which is the one that I believe) is that, assuming he has a good season, van Dijk could be worth anything up to £80 million next summer - he signed a six year contract last year so there will still be a big chunk of it left.

I'm still sorry that we let Jay Rodriguez go, but that's football and I'm just being sentimental, really.

He started his league career with us a decent player as I recall

We're at home against Mansfield tomorrow

Last season at BP we beat them 5-2 so that will do again boys please

Can Arsenal get any more incompetent.

They have known all summer at least that Sanchez wants out and that City want him.

They finally agreed a fee of 60 million pounds for him yesterday only to pull out for the transfer because they could not find a suitable replacement. Why did they not have someone lined up? They had all summer to do it.

Now they are stuck without the 60 million and with a player that no longer wants to be with them and who can walk away for nothing next summer.

Good work Arsenal!

Good luck. Hope you beat em.
We got that German side abroad tomorrow Altona 93 Some of our players have their own country's international games so wont be in Altona.

Good luck to everyone else who's playing this weekend.

I thought that transfer didn't go through cos Sanchez decided he wanted to stay at Arsenal. ???

Anyone watching England tonight?

Nah, going to watch Game of Thrones and catch-up on a couple of more drama's.

I only found out when the game was when someone mentioned it!

Knew it was this weekend but didn't realise it was tonight until I seen your post @Lamont D

Should be about ten-nil but one will do!

What 10-0 to Malta

Probably catch-up with the highlights later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Been busy today, so watching England will let me have a good hours kip!

I am glad Arsenal haven't sold Sanchez to another Premiership Club, if he went then it needed to be to a foreign club. I would rather keep him a year and let him go on a free transfer next year. The problem is no world class player wants to come to Arsenal no matter how much money they throw at them. Sanchez will get over it and play well this season, he loves the game too much to sulk for long and we need him. We don't have any other match winners in the squad.

I was hoping Arsenal would do a bogof (buy one get one free) deal with Liverpool and give them Walcott as well as the Ox.....

Great to hear a Gooner being relatively happy about the botch up of the summer transfer window.
If Arsenal want to compete at the top of the premiership then it shouldn't make a profit on its dealings with all them millions sitting in the vaults, deep, deep vaults!

It seems that the club is waiting for something major to implode within the club or one of the owners is taking his share of profits with the steep fall in the value of the pound sterling effecting his meagre personal financial situation.

Or in my humble opinion, the club has not got the capacity to negotiate deals in the transfer window dealing with the players, agents and clubs that are willing to pay the extra wages that the other top clubs seem to be forking out!

Mid table for me this season!

Gooners will not be happy with or without Wenger finishing outside European places!

I think Carlisle United could beat England on the current dire first half performance

No urgency telegraphed passes totally pathetic

Presactly!

Thankfully I didn't go to Liverpoo at the weekend, my poor son and wife suffered the humiliation on Sunday instead of us.
