The shock of getting diabetes made me stop sugar dead. It was not a gradual detox and it didn't cost 20 bucks. All those symptoms you describe disappear very quickly once you stop the sugar and reduce the carbs. You will feel like a new woman in no time. Best of luck with whatever you do :)

I just dont agree with you. I feel miles better when not on diab meds. They have only ever added to my problems. Am now never out ofbthe GPs office. I have done no carb diets before and they dont lose weight for me. Stopping meds does. Right now I feel like there's no way out. My family cant stand how I've become.

You don't agree with me when I say that you will feel better with better carb contol? That's too bad as it is the only opinion I can offer you.

No I am not a doctor. Speak to your doctor about your medication as I am not qualified to advise. I can only share my personal experience of managing T2 though diet. Take it or leave it.

That should read " I have done LOADS of low carb diets before".

Doing low carb has reduced the insulin I need to take (however as a type 1 I will always require insulin to be injected). I eat less than 30g of carbs a day which I get from veg. This has helped me to feel a lot better and I am definitely a lot less grumpy because my sugar levels do not swing up and down rapidly. Am I perfect and always delightful? No! I still get grumpy from time to time, but my mood is considerably more stable and I feel calmer.

I now don't crave carbs or sugary foods (except very occasionally if my sugar is low, which isn't often) whereas before I would eat chocolate at least once a day and other carbs at every meal and between meals.

However I haven't lost weight on low carb (I don't have a lot to lose, but wouldn't mind losing a little).

The fact is EVERYONE should be on as low a carb diet as possible for their cardio health.

My diet is not mega hi in carbs. I cannot stress how absolutely horrendous I feel on these meds. It's like injecting acidic poison.

How ironic to be going to your gp for possible depression when they put you on victoza bevause you wanted to lose on weight on diab meds. MY WEIGHT HAS INCREASED, MY HBA1C HAS INCREASED 2POINTS - SINCE BEING ON INSULINS AND NOW VICTOZA.

I was able to eat what i wanted, exercise without pain, was slim and could wear my clothes comfortably. Oh and I was HAPPY.

I DO NOT WANT TO GO OFF THE RAILS WHEN I HAVE TEENAGERS WHO RELY ON ME. BUT THESE MEDS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR KILLING ME AT THIS RATE.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbish :(

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with victoza so can't give any advise there. I presume you've told your GP how absolutely awful you're feeling? I know sometimes you do and it is like hitting your head against a brick wall but if you haven't already it might be worth telling them.

Hopefully someone that has tried the above diet will be able to tell you have they've got on.

It might also be worth looking on amazon (both uk and American one) to see what the reviews of it are (if you haven't already).
