Hi

This is my first message on this forum. I'm currently 26+4 with my first pregnancy. I've had a lot of issues so far including hyperemesis and sporadic spotting. My diabetes is going rather well, surprisingly! Current hba1c is 38 (5.6%). This past week I've had quite a lot of uncomfortableness in my back and side of my tummy and seem to be needing to spend more and more time sat down resting. I've got a pregnancy support band today to try and help support my ever growing bump. Has anyone else experienced pain and discomfort when rapidly getting bigger, and if so, what helped you?
Can't wait to meet my little boy - make all the difficult times seem like a distant memory!

Thanks in advance :) x

Yes, I had pains at the side of my bump (kept feeling I wanted to hold it up when I was standing). I don't remember when exactly that was but I remember googling and someone saying it could be the ligaments stretching. That pain went away - or at least the strained feeling.

I got quite bad backache too, but I found this was worse sitting all day at work. When I was at home, I alternated between sitting with cushions at my back for support, and walking around gently. I also did some very gentle stretches from my pregnancy book.

At night I had a pregnancy support pillow, which helped, but the back/hip ache didn't completely go until after delivery when it pretty much disappeared over night.

I do think aches and pains are quite common, but if you're at all concerned, check with your midwife or obstetrician for reassurance.

Well done on your HbA1C and congratulations on your pregnancy :)
