2nd best drug covered by OHIP

When I first got diagnosed I tried metformin and a bunch of other drugs.
I had side effects I didn't like on metformin and the other drugs were linked to pancreatitis.
Someone suggested the extended release version of metformin.
I've been on that for many years.
I get it covered by private insurance and found out recently it is not covered by OHIP.
I want to plan ahead for when I don't have private insurance.
What is the 2nd best drug?

Have you, or would you be interested in changing your way of eating?
This can have a very strong effect on T2.
What is your blood glucose like on metformin?

May I ask, if you've been on metformin for many years, and you're only 23 years old (assuming your profile information is correct), have you been tested for other types of diabetes?

You might want to have your birthday changed on the forum. Nothing wrong with a fake one for privacy, but it makes sense to choose something close to your own age to prevent confusion.

So have you looked into changing what kind of foods you eat? The metformin alone may help, but a change of diet may be more helpful if you're interested. Cheaper too, if you have to fund medication yourself.
