I've been missing from here for a while, I had gone off the rails and started gaining weight again. However, I kept up moderate exercise and was still making some better food choices. I was dreading my 3-month check up but it was good news:

HbA1c down from 53 to 46
Cholesterol down from 6.4 to 5.7
Weight/BMI the same (meaning I have lost the stone I’d gained over Christmas/January)!
Blood pressure NORMAL! for the first time in about 15 years!

I started the 8 week blood sugar diet (with a fairly big wobble every few days) two weeks before this blood test, but I know the test gives an average of the last 3 months.

Still taking metformin but next check up is in 6 months' time. Very happy with the results!

Well done that's a great result. You got back on the horse instead of just giving up. I bet that there are loads of people on this forum who put weight on over Christmas and New Year not all of them will have got back on track so your post is a huge encouragement. Very well done you :)

Thank you! I have a big silly grin on my face now :)

It felt more like Everest than a horse, but I really can't allow myself to fail now. If I do the usual regain, I will get back to 22 stone (that was my 2014 weight, I have lost over 2st since then) and then put more on - it would be the end of any hopes of health for me.

For me, exercise has been the key. I kept up some moderate exercise (three flights of stairs at work, several sets first thing, breaktime and at lunch) and I really believe that has made all the difference to my ability to regain control.

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate the support.

I too am a convert to exercise - not the gym! there isn't enough money in the world to make me like that :) I have 2 x approx 40min walks each day and a couple of 1hr+ walks each week, weather permitting. I too charge up and down ;(2) flights of stairs at home every day and agree completely that exercise is the key to keeping focused on the low carb lifestyle. Well done us lol

Yes :) I'm amazed at the difference just a modest amount of moderate exercise has made for me. It just goes to show, there's always hope.

Great result. Keep it up and by your next Hba1c you may be able to say goodbye to the Metformin

Thank you urbanracer :) Hope my next results are even better.
