3 month post diagnosis MOT

Just arrived back from the GP to get my bloodtest results.

The news is bitter-sweet, because whilst my test figures have improved since my original diagnosis approx. 3 months ago, I was told that they now do not warrant a referral to a specialist. I was so wanting to speak to someone that may actually have known what they were talking about with a certain level of depth.....

Doctor was late for a meeting and I feel rushed through. She seemed to want to pat me on my back, send me off - and get on with her work. I'm beginning to grasp such is the life with the condition. It frequently feels like you are on your own out there.

I rewarded myself on the way home by stopping off at a random pub and ordering a Guinness.

MOT results:

Test dates: 21/4 - 6/9

Chlost: 7.0 - 4.6
Tri: 1.4 - 0.7
HDL: 1.39 - 1.52
LDL: 4.97 - 2.76

Hba1c: 15.1 - 5.8

I noticed my Plasma Glucose reading on that morning (after fasting) was 5.3, which I now know is higher than non diabetic norms of late 3s, into the 4s.

So good news in that officially I'm not a 'walking heart attack' - according to the figures anyway. Bad news in that I still don't get real expert help.

A large measure of the progress I have made is down to the advice and feedback from the good folk on this forum. Ladies and gentlemen, I salute you!

And as for the Guinness, I'll be having a glass of real ale (Hobgoblin) with my diner tonight so

You've got to have a treat to look forward to now and again eh?

Thanks Sid.

Yep! Was really nice to sit down in the pub and have a pint after so long.

I'm not going to get whiskey bottles anymore (well try not too) as I lack the self control for them and I noticed some of my liver/kidney readings were a bit on the high side.

Does anyone here know about efgr readings btw? My serum urea level was high also.
