Hi, I did post a few times when newly diagnosed, but went overboard with too much advice, often contradicting and always confusing. I decided to do what my doctor and nurse told me and eat their recommended diet without testing. On diagnosis 14 weeks ago my hba1c was above12, cant remember exactly, got results of blood test back on friday, hba1c now 5.6. Furthermore my weight has dropped from 134kg to 118kg, still a fair bit to go, so I am very happy at what I have achieved. I am therfore going to place my faith in the medical proffesion and continue to do as they suggest. Doc did do scare tactics on me at diagnosis, I was also at high risk of heart attack, said if I wanted to see 50 then I needed to do something. Thats only 4 years away and hopefully I can do this and improve my health and live a heck of a lot longer than that. Thanks for the advice guys, I will keep reading the forum, but try not to confuse myself.

As I have said many times before, whatever works for you is good. It also sounds like you have a good medical team, and you are lucky with that (if you read much on this forum you will see that the quality of healthcare people get on the NHS is wildly variable - the postcode lottery, I guess).
