just come back from my 3 mth check up my HbA1c has gone down from 11.6 to 5.4 my good cholesterol gone up my bad down my weight down 5lbs from 11st 12lbs to 11st 7lb and the nurse looked at my feet for the first time which she said were fine.
I can now stop my Gliclazide ( but still have it on my prescription in case) just continue with metaformin
My bp is sky high but is average 117/75 at home so written that off to white coat syndrome
On the down side my doctors practice are not screening diabetics regularly anymore but calling folk in randomly how this will work I havent a clue I can imagine a lot of folk who are not proactive in their diabetic treatment will fall through the net and end up in trouble.
I was also told I can have test sticks and lancets once a month and how often I test is up to me but the nurse did acknowledge I couldn't have got good control without testing often
Phew sorry about the length of post but hope it will offer some comfort to other newly diagnosed folk the beast can be controlled
Love and light
