Think I just had a hypo. Does this happen often? Type 2 ? My bloods were raised been put in medicine metformin to lower now it’ too low ..shaking and feel sick. Is this normal ? Thanksgiving in advance
Did you record a 4.4? Tnis is not a hypo but a false hypo because your body is not used to low numbers.
4.4 is not too low.
However, you may have lowered your levels too quickly.
Just so you know it is extremely rare to get hypos on Metformin, it just doesn’t work like that. It doesn’t directly lower the sugar levels in your blood but stops your liver chucking out too much sugar. I took Metformin for several years and regularly got readings in the fours.
So what number is hypo? And why the trembling? I have cut out sugar entirely and very few carbs during the last week plus the tabs. It’s steadily rising atm … 6.6 at midnight and 8.1 just now. What numbers am I even aiming for? And thanks for explanation over what drugs do. I’ve been offered little to no advice except if I read 13.9 do different test… that’s it. Even then I wouldn’t know what to do. My nerves are in tatters. Awaiting blood test results to see if type 1 or 2
For someone not on insulin, a hypo is usually anything under 3.5.
The reason you got the tremblings is because 4.4 Is lower than your body is used to.
This is called a False Hypo.
Yes, it is unpleasant but it is not dangerous like a real hypo.
Looks like cutting out sugar and cutting down carbs has really helped. This suggests you do not have Type 1. However, I am not a doctor.
