That means you still have a pretty robust 2nd phase insulin response.
You might want to consider conserving/preserving it... reduced the basmati rice and sweeten soy milk...and see the difference.
What were you before the meal?
(basically I am asking if you ended up significantly lower at 4hrs than you started at 0hrs?)
I don't touch rice at all now, because of the readings I get afterwards. Fortunately I don't miss it. But I appreciate that for some people, giving up rice is like giving up a foundation stone to their diet. Probably comparable to me giving up chocolate
Thank you for your guidance. The patient is my 80 year old father. Actually i suspect there are hidden carb in the fish cake (otak) bought ready made. Usually, a meal like this if there is no carb in the fish cake, the post two hours reading is 8.3-5. I plan to test the same meal again and take a 3 hours post meal reading. By the way, the soy milk is 100% unsweetened, if need to sweeten sometimes i use stevia extract.
His morning readings lately were quite good ever since i cut 25% of his carb intake.If that is for your 80 yr old father...then I won't be too concern with the readings. As long as he is able to return to ~6 mmols. A carbs lite dinner will help him maintain the level thru the night...
Thanks. So it was a rise of approx 3.5 at 2 hours, but you don't know if that 2 hours was the high point.
I wouldn't draw any firm conclusions from one meal and one set of measurements. There are other factors in play, including stress, tiredness, emotions, and so on.
So if you want to repeat the meal, and repeat the blood glucose testing, it will give you an idea whether this bg reaction is consistent. PErsonally, I think I used to use 3 repeat meals before I made a final decision on it, and then started tweaking with portions or eliminating certain foods (like the rice).
