Re: why do you have diffrent readings pricking diffrent fing

Hi Hun
My DN always advises to use a different finger for each test but not your first finger
Not sure why your getting a different reading though
Am sure you washed your hands first
Good luck

Most meters are accurate to around 15%, so the numbers are broadly consistent. Did you wash your hands?

hi guys

yes I always wash my hands before a reading is taken ?

Re: why do you have diffrent readings pricking diffrent fing

I dont know ether, but pure speculation, could it be that your body was releasing anti coagulants after the first finger ;)

Re: why do you have diffrent readings pricking diffrent fing

As sam said the finger prick tests have so much tolerance and your readings fall within it. The same sample from the same blood will measure different on the same machine. They are a guide only and the best we currently got to inform us of our levels. Quite frankly a 1. Odd difference in a reading is the least of our concerns, unless you feel that the test is inaccurate because of not enough blood etc take the first reading and use it, you may just go insane otherwise!

I have this issue too - often if I have a particularly high reading I will try a different finger - however strangely the second reading is nearly always higher! Like you I always wash my hands - different hands also have different readings!
