Please watch this. It is long (54 minutes) but well worth it and very illuminating.
I have been watching grams of fat for 40 odd years and am finding it hard to understand the low carb / higher fat way of eating.
This video goes quite a way to explaining it....

Guys - No chance of any of these buttons being made 'available'
May I politely suggest that if you have an issue with a forum member or MOD(erator) that you use the Private Messaging (PM) feature of the forum to resolve said issue. That is, in my opinion, the correct tool for such a job and much better, again in my opinion, than "airing dirty laundry in public!"sandysan said:SARCASIM IS THE LOWEST FORM OF WIT ANNA , AND FOR A SENIOR MOD YOUR OUT OF ORDER

Been a type 2 diabetic for 15 years (with PCOS) and managed to get my weight down by using the low GI approach. However, I have to do a lot of exercise to keep my weight stable and still couldn't lose the problem areas (ie tummy).
A friend had a lot of success with the paleo diet so I decided to give it a go.
No grains, sugar and limited dairy. Plenty of good meat, vegetables, some fruit (mainly berries), fish and seafood. I try to get organic wherever possible and have subscribed to an organic veggie box each week. I tend to avoid processed meat these days but do eat bacon that I have found from the local farm shop.
I found by switching to coconut oil this helped with any issues with acid and by the 3rd week I had no stomach problems at all.
Realise this is quite a strict regime but finally the tummy fat is coming off and my bloods are now no higher than 5.0. I am on metformin and have managed to lower my dose to 1500mg from 2000mg.
That said, it is not for everyone and I completely understand that it is an expensive and in some ways time consuming regime - but I do feel better for it, with lots more energy - no need for afternoon naps. I also seem to sleep better as well.
If anyone is interested google "Mark's daily apple". Its an American site but has lots of free advice on it.
i have to the diabetic uk site thanks hmmmm wonder who started the dirty laundry :thumbup:nomistheman said:May I politely suggest that if you have an issue with a forum member or MOD(erator) that you use the Private Messaging (PM) feature of the forum to resolve said issue.
