Hi All
Havent been around for a while - feeling really sorry for myself over the summer - seemed no matter what I did my weight was creeping upward. I am almost back at the heaviest weight I have ever been (about 6 years after I was diagnosed, and 6 months after a heart attack 5 years ago
)
All I know is I really need to do something about this before it gets any worse. I exercise at least three times a week - either dancing on a Wii machine, on an exercise bike, a walk along the river, or a swim - I try to keep it varied, but no matter how little, or much, I eat the weight is creeping at a 1lb or so a fortnight :? My doctor is being no help at all - suggesting more exercise and less food (I honestly probably eat less than a 10 year old most of the time!!).
Several non-diabetic friends seem to be having great success with the 5:2 diet - weight losses over a 6 month period varying from 2 stone to half a stone - so would love to give it a try if I can find a safe way of doing it.
Everything I have read seems to indicate that Type II diabetics on diet, or oral meds only, are fine to give it a try but that it is not suitable for insulin dependent (which I am) so I would be really interested to know if anyone on injected meds has taken the plunge and given this a try.
I believe that with careful management it should be possible for a sensible Type II diabetic but wonder if there are pitfalls I haven't thought about. I already adjust my insulin daily dependent on readings and what I am eating, and am usually fairly accurate with BG readings.
Anyway, enough rambling, would be interested to hear what anyone has to offer.
thanks
Trulee
